I was going to ask about nursing and IUD's. So it is completely safe to have an IUD and still be able to nurse. Does it affect your milk supply in any way?
We are planning to get pregnant soon with #3. I want an IUD after this baby is born. If it affects nursing in any way I won't do it. I nurse my babies for 1 year and that is more important for me.

I had the Mirena IUD for just over a year. I had it put in when my daughter was about 6 weeks old. It did not affect my ability to nurse in any way. However it hurt pretty bad when they inserted it, and I was bleeding for a couple days after, not to mention pretty crampy the day of. I didn't have a period for the entire time (no spotting or anything), but I also had no sex drive (TMI, sorry!) It also caused me to be very emotionally distraught.

I had it removed at the end of July, and it was the worst thing EVER!! The loop that holds the strings had broke off so there were no strings attached, therefore my dr. had to dig and search to FINALLY (after about 30 minutes) remove it! I have yet to have a period!

Hope this info helps!

I disagree. Different strokes for different folk. I would say I wouldn't recommend it. I had it almost 3 years and mine gave me pure hell. Everything from pain and uncomfortableness with or without sex. I had it removed and I still have issue related from it.
