I personally think its is silly for people to be "squimish" of breastfeeding mothers. We should have the right to breastfeed, if that is what we choose. I mean what did they do before formula was invented? Come on!!!

Oh brother. No one complains when there's a naked woman on the cover of Rolling Stone, or about the playboy covers! So why should the complain and call this gross, it's a parenting magazine! People are so double-sided!!!

That is silly. I thought it was a beautiful picture, but I was looking at that baby's face and expressive eyes. Sure it is a breast, but I see more than that on MTV or on People's cover sometimes. I would be more upset about Brittany Spears on the cover of most of her magazine appearances.

Well, I guess everybody has to complain about something. I think it is a beautiful picture.
My, then, husband did not want me to nurse my first child, DS. I did not. He did not want me to nurse my second and last child, DD. I told him I was going to anyway. My DS was almost 8 years old when my DD was born. I told then hubby that my DS needed to see what breasts were intended for. God made them to nourish babies. I know DH's enjoy them but functioning wise, they were meant to feed babies. The first time he saw me nurse he said why is it so dark? I thought it was funny. The first few times he saw me nurse he tried not to look but did anyway. Then, it became old. I would listen to him do his homework reading while I nursed DD. I think it was very healthy for him to be a part of me nursing his sister. As DD got older, he would talk to her and of course she would smile and stop nursing. It became a game with them.
If people see this picture as something sexual, they have a problem.

Oh puh-lease! I can't believe people made such a stink about a breastfeeding baby on the cover of a parenting magazine!! I agree completely that we see more skin on the cover of most fashion magazines, and the pics aren't nearly as beautiful as this one was!

I nursed in public MANY times (though I did try to be discreet), and most people never even knew what I was doing. (My grandma's dh nearly lifted the blanket one time, but I stopped him pretty fast before he got an eyeful of something he was never intended to see! :P ) But, my goodness, when the baby needs to eat, then you feed them. And, moms shouldn't have to hide away in bathrooms or in the car to do it! That's just silly!!

I also thought it was a beautiful picture. To me the focus is that adorable baby.

I thought it was a beautiful picture too. What is more natural that a baby nursing from it's mom.

There was a quote in the article, ""I shredded it," said Gayle Ash, of Belton, Texas, in a telephone interview. "A breast is a breast — it's a sexual thing. He didn't need to see that."

When are people going to learn what breasts were really made for?

WOW! How insane. The picture is beautiful. What a sweet little one. It would just make me melt to see my little one looking up at me like that. Like others have said where is the outrage for Rolling Stone or Cosmo or a million others that show a lot worse.

When I was breast feeding #3 I would sit in the recliner and my daughter (then age 18 months-2) would sit on the foot rest with her doll up her shirt feeding her (cuz her shirts didn't unbutton the way mine did). It was so cute. We fed out babies together for many months.
