So.. Ive been told by more than one person that if the baby is having eye issues you can put a drop or two of breastmilk in the eye and it will make it better.

Ive never done it before though. But yesterday DJ (7 weeks) his right eye started watering a lot and would crust up when he slept and then he could barely open it.. I would rub his tear duct and some gunk would come out. His actual eye was normal color. His eye was just puffy and watering a lot.. like maybe something was in it? I dont know. So last night while I was nursing.. I said wth.. and put a drop in.

This morning.. he woke up totally fine!!! Sweet.

When Connor was a newborn he had what we thought was a blocked tear duct and I had read to try the breast milk thing but I wouldn't try it. So we took him to the Dr, spent $30 on the copay and the very next morning it was clear! I should have just tried the milk first. Glad his eye cleared up.

I'll have to remember that for my friend that's due in Sept/Oct. She's planning to breastfeed. Nutrition and medical uses! Very cool!

It does work! I did it with all 3 of my children and it cleared up their plugged ducts within a few days. Kellymom has a list of other uses for breastmilk---warning, some of them are a little out there. http://www.kellymom.com/health/illne...reastmilk.html

I tried that as well - unfortunately it didn't work for mine. Hers were terrible - looking back at pictures is painful - she looks so miserable most of the time. However, the milk is also great for those little scratches that they get from themselves on their faces - just rub a drop on the scratch a few times a day and they go away really fast.

Also in the winter when they get those chapped cheeks - works great on those too!

Ok- the little guy has a blocked tear duct and it is really nasty. We went last Fri and got drops from the Dr. Tues he seemed to be looking better, but got worse again yesterday. I read this thread, and, though I am not BF, I still managed to milk out a little-lol. My question is this, for those of you that had this work, did it get even goopier after you tried the breast milk? I am wondering if I need to call the Dr again, because they said if it wasn't cleared up in a week to call back. I would love it if this were to actually work, but I tried it at 8:00 this am, but he is still very goopy- infact just after I "milked" him they immediately got really goopy. I don't want to wait too long, as his Christening is this weekend, and all the family is coming to our house for the weekend.

TIA for any insight.

I saw this post and just had to put my two cents worth in!!! LOL When my middle son was a baby he had cradle cap. It was horrible!!! It scabbed up and oozed and bled. I tried everything and then Ijust got aggravated, and I just squirted his little head good with breast milk. It took about 24 hours and I started seeing it clear up!!!!! It is amazing how good that stuff is!!!!! If I got a scratch or zit, I would squirt it with the breastmilk, and it would clear it up!!!! I wish I still had some around to work on some scratches and boo boos that the boys have now!!!! LOLOL It is a miracle cure!!!!! Enjoy it while it lasts!!!! LOL :D
