I just got a bunch of bottles from my sister-in-law who used them with her child (he just turned 1). I'm due in October...so I was wondering, when should I clean them and how should I clean them? Also, I think I read something somewhere about certain types of nipples needing to be replaced every so often. Do I need to replace any of them? She gave me some Medela and some Avent bottles.

This allows me to take this off of my registry and saves me from buying them if I didn't get them as presents!

I wouldn't take the time to boil all of them I would just run them threw the diswasher and use the heat dry on them that would sanitze all of them.... If you don't have a dishwasher then you are going to have to boil them... not long tho just a dunk of each and you are good to go.. but don't do it now it will just have to be done later.. as far as the nipples go look at them and make sure there are no bite marks on them and if they get gummy they are bad..HTH

Personally, I would dishwash the bottles, boiling them only if it makes you feel more secure - at least you know what type of home they came from. Nipplewise, I would discard them and buy new ones. They do wear out, even from just sitting around. The "experts" suggest replacing nipples every 3 months, and there are different flows for different ages.

Thanks. My dishwasher has the sanitize cycle, so I will go for that. Thanks! I will probably go ahead and get/put on my registry some new nipples too.

I would also buy new nipples. And don't open much of what you buy untill you know what nipples and bottle systems work for your baby.

I would definately get new nippes. A pack of 3 are pretty cheap, especially since Target has a generic brand of Avent nipples that work with Avent bottles.
