I know that it's normal to not be able to sleep durring the last trimester (mainly because you're so stinking uncomfortable!) But with this pregnancy I've not been able to sleep more than a few hours at night. I just lay there and toss and turn. I took a warm shower before going to sleep last night to see if it would help, and nothing. I still only got 3 hours of sleep.

I have two other boys to keep up with durring the day, and I really, really need some sleep! Any suggestions? Oh and I don't drink caffine, so it can't be that.

TIA

With my last 2 pregnancies, I slept in the recliner. I was much more comfortable being upright. I had 2 (3) little ones to chase all day too. Good luck!

They say Tylenol PM and Ambien are ok during the last trimester, but I dont know what you would do so early in your pregnancy. Laying off of caffiene and sugar later in the day may help...

I slept in a recliner, too. I also had some luck using a body pillow - one of the long pillows that you can snuggle up with and stick one end between your knees. It helped a lot, too. I'm a stomach sleeper. So, pregnancies took some major sleep adjustments!

I have a King size pillow that I use (it's jsut a bit smaller than a body pillow), it helped a lot in my last two pg's but not this one...

I could not sleep at all my last trimester either. I've heard that the recliner worked for some people, but I had trouble sleeping away from my husband. My Dr. finally prescribed Ambien which I took only as long as I was at work, and needed to get up the next morning. After that, I just tried to deal with it as naturally as possible, because Ambien can be addictive. I had a cup of chamomile tea or sleepytime (bigelows) tea every night right before bed, which seemed to help somewhat.

I know how frustrating this is! I was so freaking uncomfortable and tired that I was ready to march into the hospital and demand they get this baby out!!

I am also dealing with this now. i talked to the dr and he put me on Ambien - I was 26 weeks at the time. It did not work, all it did was make me nauseous and stoned. they had also suggested trying 1 benadryl 1 hour before bedtime. i was taking that during the first trimester due to sinus/allergy problems. it helped back then but not any more. i am averaging 4 - 6 hours of sleep a day. I get lucky because my ds is in school so I can get in little naps.

i have discovered that no matter what I can not fall asleep before 1am so i won't even bother going to bed before then. now if I could just get dh to stop snoring - it wakes me up then I can not fall back to sleep.

sorry I am not much help - try to slip in little naps if you can. I would try the benadryl - if you are worried call your dr first but my ob said 1 a day before bed is perfectly safe.

Good luck
