How old was your first child when ttc #2? I've heard 2 years apart is good, but does that mean you started trying before #1's 1st b-day? Our daughter will turn 1 in June so my husband thinks we should start trying in the fall for #2. But it did take us 5 1/2 years to get our first. We didn't have any fertility help but we did have 3 foster children. So what is the best age of your first to ttc #2?

I think it's a personal decision. How good is your #1? My first dd was an angel child and I started wanting #2 when she was 9 months old. Well we did wait a while and got pregnant with #2 when our first turned 1. They are 21 months apart.
DD #2 just turned 2 in march and we got pregnant with #3. So the next will be 2yr9months apart. My little dd is understanding the we are having a baby and we will be able to explain some of the changes than will happen when the baby comes. DD #1 was old enough to understand any of that stuff when we were pregnant with #2.

I think it is a personal choice my dd turned 2 the end of March and we are just starting talking of #3. I think we are going to try late summer early fall. I know so planned out but #1 was a suprise which was fine but we have a house now and are putting a roof on and all this other stuff maybe re doing the bathroom before getting prego. I never wated my kids to be 2 years apart or closer just because my sister and I gorwing up were that close and it was nothing but troubles and heart ache from here all through out high school. She was just out right mean to me and was only one grade ahead of me so that caused boy problems...etc. So with that being said my kids will be a little over 3 years apart.

It's definitely a personal decision. My first two are 25 months apart and it's been a mixed blessing. Some days I love the age difference and other days I hate it. But it has worked for us and I don't think I would change the way we did things if given the chance. We are talking about #3 now and are wanting at least 2 1/2 years apart this time, if not closer to or more than 3.

I have a friend whose kids are 14 1/2 and 17 months apart in age (she had 3 under 3) and another friend with a 10 year and a 3 year age difference between her kids. They both have their unique challenges, but they're all happy and healthy and in the end, that's what's important!

That might be a good idea - my father started to rip off the roof on my parents' house one afternoon in late August and shortly after, my mom went into labor for my youngest brother. They stopped tearing off the roof to come down to the living room and be there for the delivery (all but one of us were born at home) and then went back up to make sure it was covered for the night. The next morning my mom went to a family reunion - my brother was only like 7 hours old!!

If you had trouble conceiving the first time, I would start trying immediately. All of my friends who had trouble conceiving were told to start trying as soon as possible. Having a baby sorta cleans everything out and depending what your what preventing you from having a baby, it is often easier to conceive if you do it quickly. Even if that's not the case for you, I would start trying as soon as you feel you can because who knows how long it will take. One friend is expecting her second and they won't even be a whole year apart. She is thrilled, as she never thought she even have one child, much less two! My kids are 23 months and 17 months apart and I think it's prefect!

Yep, it is a personal decision. My first 2 were almost 4 yrs apart and that was perfect for us, next one was 3 yrs later, next 4 yrs later, next 12 months later, next 15 months later and last one was 3 yrs later (we wanted him sooner, but he had other ideas!!!) I personally think my kids were spaced just right for us at the stages of our life we were in!!!! Some people think I was crazy with my 3 boys who are 27 months apart total, but it worked(still working) great for us!!!!

I would start trying as soon as you feel comfortable. With our DD, it took us a month, now we are trying to #2 and it has been over a year. If i would have known it would have taken us this long for a second baby, i would have started trying a lot sooner.

Ours are 22mths apart & really like it. DD didn't get enough of being an only child to be realy jealous of ds and we didn't get used to not buying dipaers. It was a little tough at first, mentally, physically & financially (2 in diapers and formula), but we got through it and I would do it all over again. Good Luck!

We had wanted our kids about 3 years apart, so when ds was 2 and a half we started. Well now the kids will be 8 years apart. it took us a lot longer to get pg then we expected. So CJ just turned 8 in Feb and baby boy is coming at the end of june.

My opionion is it is what you want, what feels right to you. Do you feel ready for another?
