Has anyone flown while pregnant? I flew last month for the first time in almost 6 years. I get to fly 2 more times this year, but now I am pregnant. My doctor said it was ok. I just need to get up and walk every 2 hours. I am flying the first weekend in May, which is a little less than 2 weeks away. I am just getting into the morning sickness. How do you deal with being sick and flying? I don't want everyone to hear me throwing up on the plane. I got a little bit sick flying last month not being pregnant. I have a feeling it will be worse in a couple weeks.
I am flying again in July. I will be almost 20 weeks and hopefully feeling better.
Oh, and we were going to wait unitl Mother's day to tell the family, but we will probably have to announce sooner. I am flying with my mom in May. I think she wonder why I am so sick all weekend.

They do say it's safe, but won't let you fly in your last trimester. Personally, I refused to do it because of the illnesses in the air and the hassle, but that was just me. In fact, I'm not interested in flying with young children, either - they just make it too difficult these days. Plus the bacteria in the water and dirty air. That doesn't count the dirty seats, blankets and pillows. We carried our own last trip, but that was before even more restrictions were put in place. No thanks.

I had to do something similar when I was four months preg. Went to visit my parents overseas - as I only get to see them once a year. Flying for over eleven hours is not fun.

If you could book an isle seat near the toilet, as well as letting the stewardesses know you are pregnant and suffering a little from morning sickness. they were very helpful in that regard, I could bolt to the bathroom anytime I needed.

Also if you can see if you can change your meal to some thing plainer or go for vegetarian as well as avoiding any fizzy drinks - as they make you feel a lot more sicker.

i'd research some tips on things that help motion sickness - you said you were sick feeling once before when you weren't pregnant. if you could eliminate one of the sickies, that would help. i know they have those magnetic wristbands that are supposed to help, among other things. i'd call your doctor and see if anything motion-sickness related can be used while pregnant.

You might look into getting the seabands that people use for sea/motion sickness. They have been said to be a tremendous help. Also make sure you are drinking lots of water as flying can easily dehydrate you, especially when pg.

BTW...If the flight staff knows you are pg then you need to tell your mom, just incase one of them says something. I'm sure she would rather hear it from you!

yeah to all that...... my dh has the sea bands and they work great for him. I use to work for an airline so flying for me was nothing did it all the time for pleasure him on he other had every time we got on a prp plane he would get white as a paper start sweatting profusly and turn to me like I could make it go away. I bought the sea bands on line really cheap. HTH also do drink LLOTS of water. Someone else said something about flying in your last trimester. That it diffrent per case bases and Dr. My doc said I could fly all the way to the end but if I wanted to have my baby at the hospital of choice and him delivering then to not fly my last month.

None of them are long flights, so I don't have to worry about that. In a couple weeks I am going to Portland, OR from SLC. In July I am flying to Tulsa, OK, but I have a short layover in Denver. So that cuts the long flight in half.
I have another ultrasound on May 2nd, a couple days before I leave for OR. I will ask the Dr for something for nausea for the trip.
