In most women, conception occures approximately 14 days after the first day of your last period. The egg is there, it's just waiting to be fertilized; date of conception is not necessarily the date you had sex. I'm certainly not an expert, but I remember how confusing that was when I was pregnant because I thought I was only like 3-4 wks, but the dr was saying I was 6-7. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

This might explain it better...sorry, little pet peeve of mine when folks say you're actually pregnant 10 months, not 9. I'm not sure if you were saying that, but I'm just explaining! L.OL!

"There are 365 days and 12 months in a year, meaning that a month averages 30.42 days. (A month does not equal four weeks. Four weeks is only 28 days, which is perfect if every month is February.)

Pregnancy lasts 40 weeks, 280 days.

280 days is therefore 9.2 months, or 9 months plus 6 days. Not 10 months.

And really, since you are only actually pregnant for 38 weeks, not 40, that gives you 266 days or 8.74 months."

I really have no idea how often conception occurs on what date, and the medical community makes averages to encompass 'most' people. I just know you're not pregnant 10 months, you can do the math and look on a calendar. I had heard that so many times when I was pregnant with my first child, I finally asked my OB and he laughed and confirmed what I had figured out on the calendar all on my own. L.OL *Shrug*

You are right...and remember you are pregnant FORTY weeks....which makes it much easier to count back than to do so with months!

Thanks for the correction! See, I'm not an expert! Lucky for me I only had to suffer for 7 months (just kidding, I didn't suffer!)
