I am 24 weeks pregnant and I have been spotting since morning. I went to obgyn and he did a vaginal exam and a vaginal ultrasound. He found out that the baby is Ok, but I have a polyp on my cervix and it was bleeding. I just want to know if any one had a similar situation ! I am going back this Friday to follow up and to decide if they want to remove the polyp now or wait after delivery. He said that usually these kind of polyps are benign but he still want to make sure.

I would tell your doctor no thank you I will have that done after the birth of my child. It is not safe to mess with the cervix during pregnancy...it could cause a miscarriage. I would ask him to test you for HPV instead and to monitor the polyp.

I have a cervical polyp too. I found out at 5 weeks pregnant, I thought I was having a miscarriage b/c I was bleeding so I went to the ER and they said everything looked okay. They didn't really go into detail about the polyp, so about 2 weeks later, I went to the ER again b/c I was bleeding and they pointed out the polyp. I asked if it can really cause all that bleeding that it was causing and they said it can. But they don't want to touch it now...they said it's not a good idea to remove it while pregnant. I'm not sure if that's just military doctors, but my mom told me her co-worker had a cervical polyp during pregnancy and she had it removed in her 3rd month and everything was okay.
I'm still bleeding now...and I hate seeing it since I'm still in my first trimester, but they did an ultrasound on me and they could see the baby's heartbeat.

Please let me know what you had done. I am 35 weeks pregnant with a polyp and am very scard of delivery and what to expect.

I read about it on google when I had that polyp on my last pregnancy. They say it's benign, but I've wondered if it contributed to my weak cervix. But you girls are a lot further along than I was when I had my MC. It appears that after the MC, I passed the polyp. It's amazing how something that small can cause a big ruckus with the bleeding. Mine bled so much...it was scary. But all the times I bled, I dismissed it all as the polyp, and the one time I should've taken it seriously, I didn't and lost the baby.

Hello I'm new to this site. I would first like to day sorry for your lost. I just went to the doctor on yesterday and found out that I too have a polyp on my cervix. I am kind of nerves since this is the first time I experienced this. I am 12wks and I was wondering does it cause you to bleed light bron like you do in your 1st trimester as well.

Yes I bleed a light brown up to around 25 weeks. Then it stopped. But I am 35 weeks and still have the polyp. Mine has grown to the size of a finger. Give it time, it may stop bleeding like mine. Good luck....I understand being worried. I still am too. Keep me posted.
