I started spotting (thread about it in the health section) so, at the urging of some ladies who thought it might be implantation bleeding, I called my obgyn and she sent a script right over to my local hospital for a blood test. the girl at the lab said it would take two days or so for the results (the dr office will call with them) so I'm figuring I'll know by Tuesday? (the blood probably won't even be processed until tomorrow b'c I didn't get there until 6pm tonight) DH called me from work and said "so? what are the results?" um.. yea, honey it takes more than two minutes. not like your blood turns neon green when you're pregnant or something.

I'm trying not to be too mentally consumed by it all. The question now is whether I should start my first cycle of bc on Sunday, without knowing if it's a period or implantation bleeding. So, um.. I guess I'll call the dr about that one tomorrow. MIL thinks I should start it anyway; if I'm not pg then I'll have lost a full month and have to wait until next month to start the bc, and if I am, she figures I'll only be on the pill for a day or two and can just stop taking it. I think I'm going to check with the dr. Man I need something to occupy myself with over the weekend!

Ok first of I hope you get the results you want. it is too bad you have to wait. My drs office did it in their lab and I had the answer in 20 minutes.

2nd call your dr about the pill. when I started mine I actually started about 5 days from when they said I should and had no ill effects - except on the first month my period started at the end of the green pills instead of at the beginning. i am guessing the dr will tell you to wait and either wait till next month or start them a couple days late.

Shoot I would even ask if you are not pregnant - and they want you to wait on the pills - can you start the pills after you get the results. then you don't have to wait another month.

I hope this makes sense.

First off if there is any chance you are prego your dr should have requested stat results and should have had them with in the hour. There is no reason you should have to wait 2 days to find out if you are or not and if not what is going on with your body. I would call your dr in the am and check to see if y0our results are in.

well i had the blood drawn at a hospital about 40 minutes from my dr's office. it was the only way i could get it done today. i'm still going to call in the morning and see if they can rush the test though.

Don't start your BC until you get the results. The Morning After Pills are just extra strength BC. Worst case you end up using back ups (condoms) for a month.

WoW! I dont know where your from but I know here when I worked in the lab at the hospital even if you would have gone in at 6pm at nite they should of had the results for you by the next morning not 2 days! Most labs will run a pregnancy test "in house" rather than sending it out. Plus, like someone else said if you are spotting why arent they running the test "stat" so you get the results w/in a few hours? I would call your doc in the morning and see if they can call and check on the results or at least get them to run the test. It really doesnt take that long to run a pregnancy test.

guess my hormones must be off or something. i've never spotted for 3 days as my period. too weird. dr told me to start the bc pill on sunday. so we're gonna start working on the process i suppose. thanks for all of your wonderful advice and thoughts/prayers! :hugs:
