How good are you about taking them? I am TERRIBLE! I know this is bad, but I am a bad pill taker. I have never been an every-day pre natal vitamin, and I think all 4 of my kids turned out fine. How about you?

They are more for insurance in case there's any deficit - not an insurance to have a better baby.
I took mine before bedtime to avoid their involvement in my morning sickness. It was just part of my bedtime routine.
But they are also to help YOU. Making a baby depletes a lot from you. This helps replace some of that so hopefully it would help you feel better.

I have always been very good about this because I don't have the greatest diet in the world.
With this pregnancy I had to get one of those 7 day pill holders, I am taking by prenatal, fibre pills, zantac and a calcium supplement.
there is no way I would remember everything with out the holder.

I have had no problem with taking the vitamins myself... I easily made it part of my bedtime routine. But for whatever reason, I cannot remember to give DS his vitamin D every day. I think I've remembered about 5 or 6 times in the last month. Doh! And I'm STILL taking the prenatal vitamins because I'm nursing! Go figure.

I am bad with pills too. I especially can't swallow those huge prenatals. I bought me some Viactiv chocolate chews. They are pretty good. My dr told me I could take Flinstones chewables if I wanted. I would just need to take an extra Folic acid (they are tiny pills) and extra Iron.
It sucks that morning sickness is in the first trimester when the baby is doing the most developing. When I am sick I can't swallow any pill no matter what the size. I wish I would have been better on my folic acid during first trimester.
But this is my 3rd pregnancy and both my other kids turned out perfect without vitamins.

I was very good with my first pregnancy but not so good this time around. They just kept making me sick and it didn't seem to matter what time of day I took them. My diet is pretty good though (with the exception of today) and I was very good at taking my folic acid before I got pregnant! At least I got sometime covered.

I'm a nurse - I take care of children with special needs - you'd think it would make me that much more dilligent with my prenatals....I'm ashamed to say no it didn't. I became soooo constipated taking them, there was nothing I could take that didn't cause severe cramping (intestinal) and diarrhea so I stopped taking them. Thank God both my kids were born without any problems.

I took prenatals for almost three years before getting pregnant, because my OB/GYN suggested I try them to help my borderline anemia, and they never gave me any trouble. Then when I got pregnant, they made me miserable, and I didn't have morning sickness. So what am I doing? Well, a few things help me make sure I get all the vitamins and minerals Evan and I need.
First, I love FUZE's green tea. Each 18 oz. bottle has at least 25% of the folic acid I need, and tons of other B vitamins for energy, with only something like 45g of caffeine. AND NO SODIUM!!!!!
Second, I found these delicious low-carb, high-protein bars by think thin at my local health food store. They come in different flavors; my favorite is the chocolate fudge. Each bar contains 20 g protein, 240 calories, and at least 25% of each of the following: vitamins A, C, E, B6, & B12; iodine, zinc, iron, copper, calcium, folate (aka folic acid), thiamin, riboflavin, biotin, and niacin. It also has 6% magnesium & 20% pantothenic acid. I like the fact that they taste great, ease my hunger, don't upset my stomach, and don't cause my blood sugar to skyrocket and then crash, giving me the shakes. All this in a gluten- and sugar-free chocolate bar!
The third thing I've picked up is a powdered shake mix formulated specifically for prenatal and nursing mom's nutrition. It was about $15 for the can, but just one small scoop with 8 oz. of juice or milk, and I know I've gotten all the vitamins the baby needs. And it tastes great!
So even on days when I can't stop working long enough to eat a proper meal, I know I can still get something to ease the hunger and provide the nutrition we need. I always keep the a couple of the bars, fruit cups, lots of bottles of water, whole grain English muffin, and a chunk of cheddar cheese on hand for those hectic days. If I don't have time to fix or stop for breakfast, I drink a shake. On the days I can actually sit down and eat a salad, sandwich, or leftover casserole, I don't eat the more expensive bars (they're over $1.50 each).
Hey, I deliver the mail, and on those heavy mail days, I may work 10 or 11 hours with only the necessary bathroom break. So if I can figure it out, I'm sure you can!

I was pretty bad about taking my prenatal vitamins, too. Then I started keeping my toothbrush next to the bottle. No problem now. I may forget to take medication, but I never forget to brush my teeth. I grab for my toothbrush, I see my vitamins.

I am also very bad about taking pills everyday. Which is why I am preggo I guess! lol But I keep mine on my nightstand with a bottle of water and take them every night before I go to sleep.
