We had a coed shower. It doesn't seem to be too common around here but my thinking was that we have a lot of friends as a couple and they are male and female. Our guy friends were as excited about our baby as anyone.
My sister and mom planned it and we had cookout food (it rained that day) and we played some of the traditional baby games that weren't too girly. One you had to name a candy to go along with a phrase (ex. Sex life after baby = Zero bar), gift bingo, word scramble. She had prizes for each gender. There weren't too many decorations in baby pink and blue. She used bright, summery colors (it was July). She also put together a baby bag for DH that had clothes pins for his nose, a gas mask, etc.
Everyone enjoyed themselves. Our guy friends seemed to have a good time and really got into playing the games. I figure they wouldn't have come if they thought it was going to be to girly.
