How do y'all feel about couples baby showers? DH has a lot more friends here than I do, and a friend mentioned a couples baby shower. I know that these were fairly common in Ca. but I am not sure if they are in Alabama. What kinds of things do you do?

We had a coed shower. It doesn't seem to be too common around here but my thinking was that we have a lot of friends as a couple and they are male and female. Our guy friends were as excited about our baby as anyone.

My sister and mom planned it and we had cookout food (it rained that day) and we played some of the traditional baby games that weren't too girly. One you had to name a candy to go along with a phrase (ex. Sex life after baby = Zero bar), gift bingo, word scramble. She had prizes for each gender. There weren't too many decorations in baby pink and blue. She used bright, summery colors (it was July). She also put together a baby bag for DH that had clothes pins for his nose, a gas mask, etc.

Everyone enjoyed themselves. Our guy friends seemed to have a good time and really got into playing the games. I figure they wouldn't have come if they thought it was going to be to girly.

That is what we are having. My dad and grandpa would have came anyway and dh doesn't want to get left out of the baby stuff so...

Its going to be great. We aren't doing traditional shower games but they aren't my style anyway. We are doing bbq and outside games and just going to have a lot of fun. I think they are a great idea. Why should the dad get left out?

I think they are a great idea! We had one for our 3rd and my DH loved being able to be a part of everything. We just had a cookout and alot of friends brought food and chatted and then we opened gifts together. It was so much fun

That would make my hubby cringe. He hates things like that.

Same here! We went to a couples bridal shower once for his friends and he hated every minute of it!
