In my family, a lot of couples choose to wait until the beginning of the 2nd trimester to share the good news that they are pregnant. Other people I know tell the world when they get the results from a pregnancy test.

When did you tell family, friends, and others - and why did you choose that particular time?

By the way, I'm just posing a question for discussion - we don't have a bun in the oven yet.

I was beginning to wonder with all these pregnancy questions!!

With our first, we were about to see both sets of parents at a vacation weekend, but dh didn't want to wait so we told them 3 days before we would see them. I remember my father kept saying on the phone, "You aren't joking, are you?" He was the most excited, I think.

With our second, I had just had a test at the hospital that came back negative the week before and was CRUSHED because I wanted to be pregnant. (I had had the stomach flu and was in there for that and they tested me.) Well, my period never came so I took another one while dh was at work and this one came back positive a week after. So, I called my mom to ask her what to do and she encouraged me to go to a pregnancy center (we were new in town and had not gone to the doctor yet) where they confirmed it so my parents knew before I told my dh. I took him to lunch and showed him the stick. He didn't know what it was at first. Dh's parents were called that night.

With the third, we just called and told everybody. They were in shock because they didn't know we were trying and our second had just turned 1 when we found out.

We did not have any "oops" babies, but many people think our last one was.

Because I had 2 m/c before we got preg. with first DS we chose to wait until close to 2nd trimester to tell everyone. Of course, my immediate family knew (Mom, Sis, Dad, MIL) but that was it.

Immediately!!! My dh could never wait!!! Except we waited with the last one to tell my parents and sister until close to the delivery date, since I did not want to hear their opinion on how many kids we have!

With my first one we told our parents right after we did the pregnancy test. We did not tell our friends or co-workers until after my first doctors appointment. With my second one we did the same thing but I ended up having to tell my office earlier than I wanted to because I was extremely nauseous.

I thought we were the only ones that got "advice" on how many children we should have".

We were told that we needed a new hobby!

We told everyone right away. I knew that if I would have a m/c I would probably want others to share in my sorrow, too (so to speak). So, we shared our news as soon as we knew every time. However, I think that if I had known there was a great chance of m/c or complications that I would be more reluctant to share with so many people. Also, it would have been pretty hard for me to hide the fact that I was pregnant for very long because I am very thin and start showing VERY early and am usually quite nauseated all day, everyday for the first trimester. I think others would figure it out pretty quick.

With our two losses we had told right away.....then it was difficult because he had to go tell everyone what had happend. Soooo when we got pregnant the next two times we really wanted to wait awhile. However WE COULDN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha!!! My dh was so excited he told his brother and co worker and then there was no stopping the news. Haha!! Soooooooooo every time we pretty much let the cat out of the bag as soon as we saw the positive preg. test.
I have no patience.

I told dh as soon as I found out and we told our families immediately after. I wanted to wait until I was farther along due to previous miscarriage but dh couldn't keep a secret and I was ssssooooooooo sick so I had to tell.

We don't tell family until around 7-8 weeks. I would like to hide it longer, but I always end up getting sick and can't hide it.
