My bleeping husband wants to drag me to his parents next weekend. I really don't want to go but he feels obligated to visit them at least one more time before I have the baby. His parents live 3 hours away from us and I will be 34 weeks pregnant. I am just not in the mood to see the lady who will be once again bashing me breastfeeding and not letting her become my baby's mommy when we visit and insist my baby sleeps in her room...sorry lady but you don't make milk and my baby will need to be fed a few times a night. I don't even want to thinlk what would happen if she feel asleep with my baby next to her since she weighs between 350 and 400 pounds. This is the same lady who was trying to feed my daughter bananas and tell me it was BS that she had an allergy...sorry don't want to be taking care of a kid that would be vomiting all day.

At this stage I just want to sleep in my cozy Tempurpedic bed and be close to home just incase I deliver early. I would hate to deliver early and have to spend weeks with her instead of days. If I did go into labor she would be the type trying to push herself into the labor room and probably would not let me hold my own kid at all.

Should women be traveling at this stage at 34 weeks??

I would tell him NO. Your too far along for it to be a comfortable ride. Let alone having to deal with the mil and stress that puts on you.

I would discuss this with your doctor. It all depends on what type of pregnancy you have had. Have you had any problems or complications? IMO I would not base your decision on your husband or mil-I would contact your doctor & talk to him. During both of my pregnancies I think we stopped traveling when I was about 34 weeks. I wasn't having any problems but I was so tired & getting very uncomfortable & my husband wanted me to be rested & relaxed. There were times that I didn't mind traveling 2 hours to see his parents but he said no that they could come see us. IMO if you don't want to go then put your foot down. You are the one that is pregnant-if he wants to see his parents he can go or they can come see you all.

I vote no as well! I am 32 weeks and just did a 3 hour trip and will NOT do another until after the baby is born!
If he feels such a need to see her, then he can explain the risks of the visit, and she can come to your house!!!!

Definitly check with your dr!! With my last 5 pregnancies I was on bed rest by this time, except for #5 who was born at 34 weeks!!!

I've tried no he just gives me a dirty look that says we are going whether you want to or not. I told him just to invite them out here. I just know we will go out there and he will go out all day golfing with dad when I get to deal with his mom and moron 42 year old loser brother all by myself I am about to offer the pet sitter $50 to tell him she is booked

Maybe I convince my doctor to tell him I should not be traveling.

Finally put my foot down. Told him if he wanted to see his parents he could invite them over here and if they really wanted to see us they would show up...other wise tough sh*t. He then said never mind we just won't see them. His mother must have guilted him that last time she talked to him on the phone.

Told him most doctors do not want their patients traveling at that stage. I really don't want to be delivering a baby in Cleveland. I want my doctor to if not be there at the labor to be available by phone to talk to a hospital he has rights at....now I am just hoping that the one doctor I know personally doesn't end up on duty the night I deliver....his kids went to school with my daughter ....and he is cute too *BLUSH*

Good for you! I am so glad that you aren't going and I am sure that DH will get over quickly, you did afterall offer to invite them to visit you!!!

wow your MIL sounds just like mine!! GRRR!!! Im glad you put your foot down you do not need the stress!!

Hubby did get over it quickly Said, "Well I guess that works out...I will have some time to go ride my new mountain bike."

I still am a little sensitive about saying no to my husband or having conversations about serious things with him....It is due to the crazy mood swings and bipolar like personality he had for the first 4 years of marriage. He has a caffeine sensitivity which at one minute would make him manic and spend like a total loon when we did not have cash in hand...and in another minute be depressed. He also would go into rages quite easily with caffeine in his system..no abuse just freaking out. Thank God we discovered my daughter had a sensitivity to caffeine while I was nursing her and put 2 and 2 together and realized he had the same issue as well. He is a much better person since he gave it up...I just get flashbacks to his old behavior sometimes. He still feels guilty about those first few years but I tell him marriage is for life and you figure out how to make things work if you truly love someone.
