Ok so I've spent most my life trying to avoid getting pregnant. Now that my husband and I are ready I swear it's never going to happen. We are useing ovulation testing kits, and I doing the fertility awareness method (taking your temp, montiering cervical fluid) You would think it would be a done deal. Are there any other medically proven methods out there??? How long has it taken other people using simular methods??

I wish I had some better advice but with trying for our 2nd child we quit after 3 years and took a break. now we are back at it again. the only non medical advice I can give is try to do it every other night after your period ends then when you think you are fertile you can try every night. My dr once said between days 12 and 18 should be the most fertile time - from the start of your period and that if I was doing the temp and mucus thing that when I noticed the change to have sex every night till it stopped.

so that is what we are trying again.

i wish you luck, I know it is discouraging and I will say try not to think about it too much - yeah I know that is not easy.

how long have you been trying??? PM me if you want to talk more.
Jamie

After a year of trying, I went to my ob/gyn and wanted on meds. He said, let's try this for three months, and if you are not pregnant, come back and see me. What he told me to do was to simply put a pillow under my butt during and after sex...for a full 30 minutes. It tilts the uterus, making the semen travel better. I WAS back in his office the next month....PREGNANT!!! I know it doesn't work for everyone, but it is a very cheap, easy thing to try!!!

That's how I got pregnant with Aidan. I just figured out what my ovulation days were and we'd do it at least every day during that time. We started in December (had a MC in September and waited 3 months), and I got pregnant the first of February.

We counted the days and I also propped my legs up for 30 min. It worked both times!

I know there are countless Fertility books out there, but a good start is a book by Anne Douglas called The Mother of all Pregnancy Books This book is a good overview of everything from preparing to try to get pregnant through childbirth. I used it with my Your Pregnancy week by week book. She has some great suggestions on conceiving and a lot of reasources for all sorts of issues.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I know that it doesn't work for everyone, but this method worked for me both times. I felt rather silly lying there afterwards with a pillow under me. But I swear by it! Good luck. I am sending some baby dust your way!!!!

How old are you and how long have you been trying? If you are "older", then after six months of trying I would see a doctor. If you are younger, say in your twenties, you could wait a year. It is very frustrating... I've been down that road.

I wish you the best of luck. My husband and I tried for 5 years (we are in our late 20's). We tried all the little secrets from everywhere and nothing worked. We didn't do much as far as meds....doctors couldn't figure it out. Then one day they said we needed to go to a fertility specialist. We decided to do the foster parenting thing until we could save up $ for specialist. We had a sibling group of three (ages 5 1/2 months, 1 yr 10 month old, and 3 yrs) placed in our home. After having them in our home (not concentrating on pregnancy) for 3 months we found out we were expecting. Big shock!!!! I think it was a blessing all the way around. Just DON'T GIVE UP!!!
