It is totally normal and the dr and nurses should just quietly clean it up and out of the way with out making a big deal of it!! That's why they have he disposable pads under you.

I didn't think I ever did, and this topic came up on night at my mom's house when my sister and I were talking, and my mom said I did. But I didn't notice it, and ya know when I'm pushing I don't care what comes out as long as the baby does!!

Plus my midwife and her helpers are very descreet about that kind of thing, and know that it's a very normal part of labor, and that it shouldn't be embarassing for the mother.

I did with both of my deliveries. I was so embarassed with the first and the nurse said it was normal and not to worry about it.

With my second I did not care at all b/c I couldn't help it. But it didn't make it any better when my DH said "Do you know you are pooping? and I had to yell and say "what the h@@@ do you want me to do, hold it in?" he shut up after that.

I was really worried about this too, but when it came down to it, pushing that baby out was the biggest thing on my mind at the time. With my first, I did a little, but it was very discreetly cleaned up. With the twins, I didn't, but I pushed them out in about 10 minutes.

I didn't with mine but they did put a bucket on the floor just for that... the nurse and I were talking about it even before I started to push. They asked me when my last BM was when I went in.

I have with all three of my deliveries. My doc says that they allow this because then they know that you are pushing correctly and not to fret. He has been delivering babies for over 30 years and it's not the first time and definitely wasn't the last!! Still, it is very embarassing! I do have to admit that when it came time to push all I cared about was getting my babies out so that I could meet them and find out what gender they were!!

I have no idea if I did (thank you Mr. Epidural Man -- I couldn't feel a thing!) but if I did, I couldn't care less. The doctors, nurses, midwives are used to it and just clean it up (along with everything else that comes out! ). Its soooo not a big deal. If you poop in the middle of Target, thats a big deal. Pooping during delivery isn't anything you should give a moment of thought.

Its a normal part of the birth. They only way to avoid it is to "get rid" of it yourself before you go to the hospital. I wish that the doctors would tell people to expect this. THose of you who dont know if you did or not you probably did. Of course the nurses arent going to tell you, what are they going to say.

With my first baby I did. I was actually trying not to push because I knew I was going to have a BM. But then of course I did and out it came I was so embarrassed. And to make matters worse the nurse acted totally disgusted. That was just the beggining of a horrible stay at the hospital. Needless to say my other kids were born at a different hospital
