Did you guys accidently poop when trying to push your baby out? I heard this is common during delivery I was paranoid with my first delivery about pooping in front of the doctors but I had a C-section. I guess if you are trying to scream and push at the same time the last thing in your mind is being embarass what comes out right?

I have had 4 kids and have done it everytime. I was talking to the nurse during my last birth, and she said that the "practice pushes" or "starter pushes" not only get the baby down ready for the Dr. but also serve the purpose of getting that out of the way. I was really embarrassed the first birth ~ but after that didn't think about it one bit. Most of the time you aren't even aware, there are so many other important things going on.

The nurses say, it is the last thing you should worry about. It did not bother me one bit and no one said a word.

My first OB gave his patients enemas to prevent this from happening. The second doctor (the one who delivered Emily) said he'd rather just deal with it - it's a natural part of delivery. He said the nurses were trained to handle it quickly, and most people never even knew they did it, if they did. So, I really couldn't tell you if I did or not with the last delivery.

It happened to me with my first birth. I didn't even know it until the doctor cued the nurse to clean it up! I have to admit I was mortified as my sister and husband were also in with me. Oh well.

Yeah, I did feel a little bit of that. I think I might have peed, too! But no one said anything, they just quickly cleaned it up, and I figured I wouldn't worry about it, either, since everybody does it! Goodness, when you have your legs spread for the world to see, and you're working harder than you ever have in your life to push that baby out, it really doesn't matter.

Not to my knowlege! But with my dd3, my water didn't break until I started pushing. Needless to say, the dr. got a nice "shower"!!!!!

Ugh!!! I've GOT to stop reading some of these threads... as t creeps closer to time, I'm not so sure I can go through the difficulty/embaressment of various labor mishaps!!! I would be so mortified if this happened. Hopfully no one would notice though, and never, never, never say anything...

I was soooo afraid of this happening! I am very private and get embarrassed really easily. I begged my doctor to just do a c-section for my first baby. This and being afraid to tear right there was really weighing heavily on my mind! She said no, I had to try to do it naturally. My dh was in the room (honestly, I didn't want anyone in there because in my weird little mind, this whole processing was embarrasing). Anyway, yes I accidently pooped while I was pushing and my doctor (the ars) had my dh look on purpose. She was talking about the whole thing like I wasn't even there. Hours later, I got to have my c-section. I told her it would have been easier to just do that the first time.

Why on earth weren't we made like kangaroos!
