Yesterday, I went to pick up my prescription for prenatal vitamins (Citracal Prenate with DHA) and it was a whopping $39 (that's for a 30 day supply). I'm going to call my insurance today because that just doesn't seem right. The pharmacist said that it's a new prenatal vitamin & it's probably non-preferred by my ins. co. I'm pregnant with #4 and I don't remember paying that much with my others. The prenatal vitamins with Omega fatty acids came out when I was pregnant with #3(4 years ago). I think I might have paid $20/month.

The first time I got y script filled for perscription prenatals, it was $30 with my insurance. I was about to take about 10 before I realized THEY were the reason I was throwing up. so I started taking the Flintstone Gummies, as recommended by the doctor's nurse. They actually just said Flintstone vitamens, but the iron in the regular version made me really sick, and the gummies don't have the iron, so thats what I've been using.

I'm a pharmacy technician and I agree with the pharmacist. It is probably a non-prefered drug and that is why your insurance is charging you a higher copay. When you call the insurance ask them to send you a formulary list that way when you go to the doctors you'll know what is preferred and what is not.

I just buy my prenatals at the drug store. The doc looked at them and said they were fine. I could also get mine through the hospital for free but its easier to just go get them at the store myself.

I filled my prescription once but the pills made me feel icky. My doctor said the OTC Target brand was fine. It was only $5.00 or something for a HUGE bottle. I would call to see if you can switch.
