Did you take them? When did you start taking them - while you were trying to conceive, after finding out, later on? Did your doc recommend them or did you ask about them?

They gave me a free bottle of pre natal vitamins at my first appointment. But I know they recommend you are taking them I think it is a year in advanced and definitely if you are TTC. I started taking mine when I found out I was pregnant, but I bought mine at health food store the Twin Lab brand very good. They are capsules so they dissolve faster giving your body a chance to get more nutrients.

It's best to take them while you are trying to conceive due to the need for folic acid to help fuse the spine, and it would make you feel better when you do become pregnant.

I still take them while nursing. Mine are prescription - a regular prenatal, and then a special DHA gelcap to help with brain development. My insurance still covers it. But you don't have to take prescription ones. OTCs are fine.

I have always been horrible at remembering to take my daily vitamins. But once we decided to start TTC, I have taken either a regular daily vitamin (along with a folic acid supplement) or a daily prenatal vit every single day! I got one of those weekly pill cases and I fill it every sunday. I am proud to say that i have not forgotten my vitamins at all in the past 5/6 months!!!

My doc recommended after last pregnancy that I just use them as my daily vitamin since we were still in the childbearing phase. So, I have been taking them on a regular basis and I just take them at the same time that I would normally take my bc pill. That way I don't forget to take it because the routine hasn't changed. I figure that a pill that is good for the baby has to also be good for me anytime.

In my first two pregnancies, I just started taking them when we were trying to conceive and then through the pregnancy and while I was nursing. I taking OTCs in between and prescription while I am pregnant and nursing!!

I never took them before getting pregnant, because we never really tried, it just happened. So I only took them after finding out that I was pg.

If you are actively TTC you should take them for the folate.

The first time we weren't TTC, so I didn't start taking the vitamins until after we found out. (Although I was taking a daily Centrum, anyway.)

This time my ob gave me a bag of vitamin samples to try out, although I already knew what kind I wanted to take. I started taking them in November and by January I was pregnant.

I used to be horrible about remembering to take my medication, until I started taking it right before I brushed my teeth. I take my vitamins right before I brush my teeth before bedtime every night. If I have to take any other medication (that might upset my tummy if taken with the vitamins) I take it right before I brush my teeth every morning. I keep my toothpaste in the medicine cabinet next to my medicine.

You should definitely take them while TTC. I didn't take them beforehand because we weren't trying either. But I was taking a multivitamin which is good.

I'm very bad about remembering to take a pill everyday...hence getting knocked up!...but I made my prenatals a part of my nighttime routine. I have them right next to my contact case so I would take my vitamin, take out my contacts, and go to bed.
