Did you add (or take away) certain foods or nutrients to your diet while you were TTC? What about when you were pregnant? What did you do to make sure you were eating healthy for your baby - or for your future baby, if you were TTC?

When I was pregnant I tracked my protein intake. I heard somewhere (sorry, I can't remember the source) that getting enough protein helps avoid complications like pre-eclampsia. I ate a lot of cottage cheese, seafood like tuna steak, shrimp and salmon (chicken made me nauseous) and other high protein snacks.

In anticipation of pregnancy, I made sure I was getting plenty of fresh foods - lots of leafy greens and fruits.

I also tried to make sure I was getting enough dairy in my diet. I made an effort to get cheese, milk and yogurt every day.

About the only thing I did was up my calcium intake since I am not a milk drinker. Otherwise I ate absolutely everything, and I do mean everything!!!

I started taking folic acid supplements when we were thinking of getting pregnant. It helps prevent neural tube defects & it is important to start taking it when you're just starting to think about conceiving. You could also just start taking prenatal vitamins, since those usually have extra folic acid.

Yep, I changed my diet quite a bit when each time I got pg. I usually don't eat a lot of meat, just because I don't care for it. So I ate more of that for the protein. I also cut out as much MSG as I could (it's in everything though, so it's hard to do) because it can cause birth defects. And ate a lot of dark green leafy veggies, because I am annemic and those have a lot of iron.

After I got pregnant I changed a few things. No more booze, tuna fish (which I *love*) only once a week, no sushi , no rare steak, and I started nuking my lunch meat for a few seconds before I would make a sandwich.

However, I also allowed myself extra yummy stuff, like stuffed french toast from IHOP and all the chocolate milk I could drink.

Well of course the prenatal vitamin is one thing I've added. I also cut way down on my caffeine intake. I stopped my dr. pepper cold turkey when I found out I was preggo but have since started them up again

Lots of protein and calcium too. I have pb sandwich and milk every morning for breakfast.

Of course I still have the "fun" stuff too. Like last night I made brownies for me and dh. We had hot brownies and a glass of milk and it was soooo good. No sense in depriving yourself.

I ate really good when I was preggo but if I didn't I was sick. There was a period of about 2 mothes all I wanted to eat was salad, celery and things like that. I did watch how much Tuna I ate becuase you have to watch the mucery content in fish. Tuna is high.

I started prenatal vitamins before I got pregnant. With my first pregnancy, I the book "What to expect.....", I followed the book of what to eat what not to. Towards the end I said to hell with this book I'm going to eat what I want, with limits. Only 1 cup of coffee, although my midwife said 2 was fine, no MSG, no red meat and limited tuna. I was borderline GD and limited my sugar until the last few weeks, and I started to eat more sweets!

With DD#2 I basically followed the same diet as my first, but I was nauesous the first 5 months, so I ate what could and made sure to get my vitamin. Once I wasn't nauesous, I ate everything in site!

The only thing that I really change is to up my water intake and quit drinking as much pop. I also try to boost the fruits and veggies, as well as dairy products!

I also love and I do mean love to eat when I am pregnant, so I have to be careful that I don't gain too much weight and be a good girl!
