I'm not sure their technical name, so I hope you know what I am referring to. Has anybody had one of those 3d ultrasounds - the ones that show detail in your baby's head and body? It looks 3d, not like the blurry "regular" ultrasounds. I think those are an incredible piece of technology.

If you had one taken, was there a medical reason for it? By any chance, does somebody have a pic of one of these ultrasound pics?

I had one with my second and third. It was not around with my first. It was just included as a regular ultrasound and didn't cost any extra. It was all under our two u/s through our insurance. Doctors usually find a reason to have two of them even if there is nothing wrong. I loved them.

Here is my soon to be kindergartener:

Isn't he cute???

Our babysitter just had one of these done. THey do look cool but I do not know if I would do it just to do it. She did it because she wanted to find out the sex of the baby and the prenatal ultrasound would not reveal. The pictures are cool but again not worth it to me.

I had one when I went to see a specialist. We only got to see her butt though.

We waited a bit too long to get Kat's 3d sonogram done. You're supposed to go in between 26 and 32 weeks. We waited until 33 weeks. But it was super cool to see her, squished little thing that she was. I'm almost 31 weeks now, so I'm hoping to get in later this week to have Sebastian's 4d sonogram done.

Here is a pic from Kat's 3d sonogram, and a pic of her when she was a little over a month old:

I got a 4D ultra sound last week so we could find out what we were having. The doctor's office won't tell you until 20 weeks and I couldn't wait. At 16.5 weeks I found out I was having a girl. It was a beutiful experience, and they were amazing at what they do!

It won't let me post the picture, says it is too large a file. Know how to make the file smaller??

They are SO cool. The live screen is even better than the pictures. My doctor got the machine when I was pregnant with my first, back in 2002, so I got great shots of all three. I assumed most offices would have them by now. It was just part of the regular ultrasound appointment. My doctor was great about doing ultrasound for various reasons so I have lots of shot of all of them. I wish I knew how to do the scanner so I could share them. Like the previous poster, I have a picture of my little girl after she was born that looks EXACTLY like the ultrasound pic.

I've been wanting to get one done but am having trouble finding somewhere that does them close to me and the time to get me and dh both in there. Our office doesn't have the 3d option so it has to be an outside source for us.

I had one doen with my dd.... I had to pay to have it done I think it was around $100-120 would I do it again if having to pay NOPE... it was fun cool and what ever else but it really was a waste of money they only can get good pics during certain weeks of pregnancy. My dd was not coperating at all it took the tech 45 mins to get 5 good pics. I know you can't make a baby inutero do anything but the tech didn't want to give me my money back and wanted to get the "shots" it was driving me crazy. I really just wanted my money back. we did get a few good ones but I don't think they looked like her, not like when you see comparison pics that they have displayed in the office.
edit to add: I didn't have to pay for any of my US just the 4d one... because it was for entertainment purpose only. they also gave us a video of it.
