People in the delivery room

For me delivery was a private experience for dh and I. On the other hand my friend had her mother, MIL, and sister in the room as well. What is your plan for delivery? Was/will it be a closed door or open door experience? In retrospect my friend said there were too many family members in the room and next time will only have dh beside her.

Just my dh and I all 7 times. I would NEVER want anyone else in there.

it was just me and Dh and 30 other people.... our families were in diffrent states. but now we live closer to his family and I told him since I will most likely have another section that I don't want people there till after I shower. Is that mean of me? I just don't really want a bunch of people there getting to hold my new baby before I even can spend some non drugged up time with him/her

well I had wanted just my dh but my mom kind of forced her way in!! she even told the nurses I wantd her there!! (not really but I was too busy to complain)
There would be no way I would let my inlaws at the hospital!! they are the most rudest people ever and would probaly start bottle feeding my child when I wasnt looking!! and would get int he way . so there is NO WAY!!! anyhow If we ever have another child I will be keeping my mom with my other 2!!! (I will say she at least left it to me to take care of my child!!)

The hospital only allows 1 person to be in the room for delivery. So its an easy decision for me, its gonna be dh. They do this in an effort to keep down the drama and I think its great.

Besides I wouldn't want anyone else in there anyway.

The hubster was the only one in there with #1 (my parents were standing right outside the delivery room door, though). I think my mom ran in when she heard Kat cry for the first time, but the nurses hustled her right back out.

I think my parents were almost more excited to see the baby than I was.

This time I think we'll do it the same way. Just me and the hubster. My mom will probably be crawling the walls outside, but my MIL will probably be there this time (because we live closer to her now). Maybe MIL will have a calming effect on my mom.

The first time it was DH, MIL, my parents. My Dh and my mom were helping with my legs. My Dad and MIL were standing next to the bed near my head, that was close enough for my Dad!

The second time it was just going to be Dh and MIL. My mom had DD#1. Well maybe 45 minutes before I was to push my BIL and SIL showed up; it was fine by me. When it came time to push my midwife asked if I wanted them to leave, I said no they can stay. The look on her face was priceless.

Again I had them stand on the side of the bed near my head. They talk about it today, they were amazed.

I am still getting grief many years later for not allowing anyone but my dh (who if he had a choice would have preferred the hall, cannot stand blood and guts) in the room. Even though it has been pointed out to every one of them they would have had to leave anyway as ALL of my deliveries were pretty dramatic before over. There were so many doctors, nurses and specialists in the room that I almost ended up in the hall

I always have my DH and mom in with me. I won't deliver without my mom and since we live in the same time, I have gotten to have her each time.

I also wouldn't deliver without DH! He is very supportive, while my mom is more hands on and reading the machines and such.

Oh, it was just DH & I the first time around and it'll be the same for #2! I thought I wanted my mom or someone there the first time, but I was fine without her. She can keep DS for us. Besides, with DH, the doctor and the attendants, there was enough of a crowd!!!!

Another thing I'll say is that next time around I'll have a birth plan. Not that things went bad, but just not the way I had envisioned. So I'll be sure to speak up next time around and voice my concerns and wants beforehand.
