Has anyone ever had one of these written up before their delivery? In case not everyone is familiar with what a birth plan is, its basically a plan of what you would like to have happen at your birth. You decide who will be there, if you'll get an epidural, etc. Its something discussed with your doctor or midwife before the delivery and basically adhered to unless an emergency arises.

I plan to have one for the next baby because there were several things I would have liked to have happen that didn't and several things I would change. For one, I want the baby to be placed on my chest immediately after birth (not done with DS even though he was fine), I don't want all the attendants in the room like the first time (people were coming and going while I was laying there spread eagle and I did NOT like it one bit!), etc.

Anyone else have one and if so, what did you have on yours??

My doctor and the hospital made me fill one out before I had dd. I think my Dr had me do it when I was 32 weeks. I went over checked the hospital out and regestered there and all that fun stuff.

I didn't have a birth plan with my first two babies. This baby will be delivered at a different hospital and when i went in for my u/s and scheduled a tour they gave me a big long sheet of questions to answer. Do you want your so to cut the cord? How many in the room? Are you ok with students in the room? And many more.
I think it's a good thing to have and wish I had more of a plan with the other two.

I wrote one up with both my babies. I gave it to the Dr. and she kept a copy and forwarded one in to the hospital. As far as them using it. I'm not too sure. They did assure me they received it. But it didn't go like I thought. But it all worked out fine.As far as attendants, were they needed?

I don't know, but I wasn't told there would be anyone but the Dr, my DH and a nurse or two. I swear I counted 5 or 6 people I hadn't ever seen before walking in and out. I had a perfectly normal delivery too so I don't know what the deal was. I just know I didn't like it one bit but by that point there wasn't much I could say or do about it. I know they had a couple people there for the baby, but as for the other people all I can think is that maybe they were trainees??? Either way, there were an awful lot of people walking right by my legs spread wide open and I was pretty PO'ed about it.

I have an informal unwritten one. I've let everyone know of my wishes-dr., nurses, dh. So that way if I can't handle things in the moment dh can step up if things aren't going the way I planned.

I will be breastfeeding so I have informed the hospital they are not to give her ANYTHING. Also when she is taken to the nursery my mother is to follow to the nursery so dh can stay with me as I get moved back into my room. Dh is the only one to be in the delivery room and no one is to be waiting in my room when I get there. That is what waiting rooms are for. I signed the consent for the spinal block so if I decide I want it, I can but haven't decided yet on that.

I understnd they told you a nurse or two but that was for you... Did you know your baby also has a whole team of about 4 just in case anything arises after.. also to do all the cleaning up the suction the o2 over the nose and mouth if needed... and all that jazz in the first few mins or so.

Same here. I just wanted a healthy baby. I didn't care if they had to do a c-section or whatever. Just gimme my kid and show me how to feed her. The breastfeeding class the hospital offered after I gave birth was a lifesaver!

No birth plans this time, either. I just want my husband to cut the cord again (if possible). As long as our baby is ok, everything will be peachy-keen.
