Hi,

I am at 32 weeks, and suppose to start a graduate class tomorrow night. The class ends a week before I am due. I can not decide whether or not I should take the class. Things are going OK for now. They only give me one class to make a decision whether to stay in or drop.

I am concerned she will come early, this is my first, so it may be unlikely she comes early, or for some odd reason I have to go on bed rest the last few weeks.

If I start the class and half way through get put on bed rest, I will get an incomplete and they might give me until Nov or beginning of December to complete the course work, which is great. However, at that point, I will be so sleep deprived.

What is your advise?

Thanks,

Carolyn

I would talk to the professor about it first, and see what their take is on it. They may be able to help a little bit, but if it is a graduate class then maybe not as much as they would with an undergrad class.

Isn't it the thing that most first babies come late? So, its very possible you will be able to complete the class. Plus, if you have been complication free up to this point, you have no reason to think you will be on bedrest.

I would suggest doing whatever you can to get the class done now, as you are going to want to spend your time with your new little one once she arrives instead of taking the class. I wish I had waited to get pregnant until I had at least started a graduate program. I know once she arrives I will not even want to start.

I say, go ahead and do it

When I began college I had a one and a half year old. That was alright... My second semester I was 4 months pregnant and gave birth a month after it was over. Now I am in my fourth semester and I am pregnant with number three... I will get through this semester fine and then next semester I will give birth a month before my classes end...

if you communicate with your professors and let them know whats going on im sure it will be fine. with it being your first odds are in your favor that you wont go early. last year a girl went into labor in the middle of my womens studies class!! so, my point being...

YOU CAN DO IT!!

Hi,

Thanks you guys for your advise. I know, I am just an overreacting first time mom. :D

I will talk to the professor.

lexikatiesmom, what are you getting your degree in? I am getting mine in Special Education. I have a loooooooooong ways to go. This is my second career. My undergrad was in Business Administration. I may not graduate until 2010 or so, but I will have my inital certification done in Special Ed and also my masters.
WOW, I think it is great you will have 3 children and still manage to go to school. WOW.

Thanks again for your advise ladies. I am so thankful for being a part of such as great support system. I accidently came across this site a few months ago when searching for frugal craft ideas. I am so glad God guided me to all these wonderful people.

KayleezMom, how are you feeling these days?

Thanks for asking, Carolyn
I am still feeling good! I think I have had an alergy/cold thing the last couple of days so I have been running on empty and pretty tired. When I stand too long, I start getting a pain in my back. But other than that, everything is good. I am NOT complaining as it could be a lot worse. Only 8 weeks and 1 day (which equals 57 days) till our due date! I don't think Kaylee will be on time. My prediction is October 24th. Sooooo much to do! I have all her furniture, but am still missing the basics (crib sheets, blankets, socks, warm clothes, etc) as I haven't had any showers yet (So she can't come early!)
My midwife says Kaylee is in position and close to four pounds. It is becoming so real now, more than it was before. Its so hard to imagine being a mommy.

Good luck with your class. I wish I could do the same, but hopefully I will try once Kaylee is here to get back into school. My undergrad is in Information Systems (but it is a BS in Business). I think if I went back I would try to get my MS in Information Management Systems...dreams

I glad to hear you are feeling good. I would talk to your doctor at your next appt. and ask what he thinks. It is cutting it pretty close. My first was late.

I would say go for it.If you did get bed rest they work with you and you can turn your work in over the computer to your professer.I had a friend that had to do this.

most likely your first child will be on time or late from all of the stories I have heard. My first one was 2 1/2 weeks late!I thought he was never coming out.Even induced 29 1/2 hours and no baby and dialated to 9!!!Yes he did not want out lol-I think he was gripping on and saying no way lol. They had to go in and get him.

Your body will let you know and how you feel so you will know ahead of time.First ones never come fast either.

I say try it and if they give you the chance to finish later at least you have most of it done now.
