I am going to have my IUD removed that the end of next month. Getting it put in wasn't pleasant. Can anyone tell me if getting it out is better or worse? Thanks!

I can't answer your questions, but what reason, besides trying to get pregnant, would you have for removing it? My Dr. was trying to talk me into getting it, but I just wasn't sure.

I had mine removed in March and I honestly didnt think it was that bad. It didnt hurt at all, I thought and it didnt take very long at all to have it removed. I agree w/ desertmom though why would you have it removed unless your looking to get pregnat or have it replaced b/c the time line is up on it? I love mine and plan on having another one put in after we are done having kiddos!

You may bleed a little, but that is it. But I did not think getting it put in was bad either.

Hard to say since everyone has a different tolerance for pain/discomfort...and I think the doctor matters a lot too.

I had no problems with it going in or out, but that was me.

That is my reason...to try to get pregnant. Why is everyone assuming it's for any other reason?

I got mine out to get pregnant as well, sadly 2 years later we still aren't pregnant, but are on meds now so I'm hopeful!

I had the Mirena IUD and it didn't hurt much at all when they took it out. It was quick and painless for me. I had a good Dr too so that might be why. When they take it out, they just pull the strings and because that pulls the arms down, it comes out fairly easy. Although its uncomfortable, its also a good idea to get it taken out while you're on your period (if you still get them) because your cervix is softer and therefore wont hurt as much. That would be perfect timing too because you could try to get pregnant right after its removed because you should ovulate about 7-10 days after your period!!

Hope you're able to get pregnant soon!!

Having my IUD removed was simple and painless..little bleeding that day and that was it.

I had mine removed for different reasons though...I found that I was sick in bed for the day twice a month, once when I was ovulating and then at the start of my periods. My periods were VERY heavy, long, and I was crampy the whole time. I would also have terrible mood swings that made me feel like I was going crazy! Needless to say I had had enough after about 7 months and had it removed. All the symptoms are gone now that I am back on the pill and I am so glad that I don't go through that anymore. I never had those symptoms before so I am sure it was because of the IUD. This seems to be rare though..I find few women that have experienced the same thing..anyone else?

Hi. I don't so much think anyone is assuming it's for another reason. I'm asking because I don't know if there's a limit, or biological reasons for removing it like age, illness or anything else. I think I want to stop taking the pill - I'm 45, and I don't think it's a great idea for me to be on it too awful much longer. So once put in, I'm wondering why people would need it removed, besides to try to get pregnant. (Best reason I could think of!!)
