The last two days I've had these painful, poking, stabbing almost pulsating pains up inside me, I guess around or else the actual cervix. They radiate upwards, so from what I've read, these aren't contractions, because those start up high and radiate low. But it's SO HURTIE!!! They come and go every minutes - few minutes for the span of an hour or so, then vanish, to reappear a few hours later. It's not the baby kicking, or rubbing there, but almost feels like something squeezing, the releasing, repeatedly. Does anyone know what this is?! I had a few last week at my 36 weeks checkup, and mentioned them to the doctor but she didn't seem concerned. Of course, they wernt nearly so painful or long lasting as they are right now. And none of the books I have mention this. I'm not sure if I should be concerned and calling the doctor because something's wrong, or concerned and finishing my hospital packing.

I am due in March and have been on the Babycenter March babies board. A few of us have had a similar sensation (I had it with my son as well) and have been told by Dr.s that is is ligaments and pelvis spreading. It would be worth checking with your Dr. but I think things may just be "getting ready down there" - It does not always feel good when your anatomy changes and expands, and expands... I hope you are feeling better!

I am due in December with #4. I know exactly what you are talking about... i was told my body was just preparing for everything that goes along with childbirth... I was like yeah well this is no small thing it hurts!!!!You might want to call the dr. and tell them that you are hurting and feel that it is neccessary to be checked out(if you are worried) to tell you the truth I would call myself! I hope that you get to feeling better!

Thank you!! So I guess it's just a normal thing. I never thought it would be 9 months of torture to have a baby, lol!! Maybe ths means something is happening quickly so I won't have to wait until the due date!!!

I had the same thing with both my kids.

I was always too scared to ask the doctor about anything that happened (besides my early contractions with my second) because I didn't really want to know if something was wrong. I know, bad approach.
