Some fresh vegetable I would cook, puree with alittle breast milk or formula, freeze in ice cube tray, then pop out and keep in freezer in a freezer bag. Anyone else do this?

I did when the boys were babies! It was so easy and I am sure I saved lots of money. Not to mention what great eaters they are now when it comes to fruits and veggies.

I also have a bunch of homemade baby food "recipes" that I would email anyone who is interested. Just give me a pm!

I have a 7 month old and I do cook for her - I do not freeze however - they ask you not to cook and store carrots for long periods because of nitrates, I guess.

I generally add all vegetables- carrots, green beans, peas, cauliflower and cook them and puree them and add it to rice cereal and serve DD. I also plan on cooking broccoli and spinach for her.

Yep. I made all of dd's and now I'm making ds's. It's so much healthier, tastier, and cheaper. Also, you don't get much variety in jarred food so I love being able to give my kids avocado, mango, etc. Btw, the book Super Baby Food is awesome for anyone wanting some guidance for making baby food.

Yup. Did it for both boys and will do it for any future children I have too.

Me too. I kept it pretty simple. I did use some jarred stuff that I bought on sale. I pretty much just mashed whatever veggies we were eating that night for dinner for DS and I'd puree some fruit for breakfast w/ his rice cereal. I did freeze some pureed peaches and bananas in ice cube trays.

I did it for DS and highly recommend it. I did veges, fruits, grains and meat. I froze mine in the ice cube trays and then labeled the bags. As he got older I mixed and matched the various stuff (ie. a cube each of apples and pears together) for different tastes. I bought jar food also but only to test to see if he would eat something before I went to the trouble of steaming, pureeing and freezing it all.

He went on a binge of not eating fruit for awhile now that he picks up his food with his fingers so I continued to buy jarred fruit bc that was the only way he would eat it. I also keep a few containers of it in my car as a just in case when we are out and about and decide to stop to eat. He is a picky eater atm but I know he'll at least eat the jar food if he doesn't like anything on the menu.
