I just changed Kaylee's diaper and found her butt to be bleeding. It was just a little red, didn't look like a big deal. Except now for the blood. What would you do to help your baby with this type of diaper rash?

I already use unscented diapers and wipes and Triple Paste. Would you use cloth diapers to give them a break (I actually have some I might try)? Any other treatments?

I dont have cloth diapers but I have used cotton underwear and put them on my 21 month old. Luckily he has older brothers, so I have a few old pair set aside for him. I will clean him up and not put any cream on right away, that way his skin gets some air on it. Last time my little guys bottom got raw like that, I used paper towels to clean him up since the wipes were stinging his bottom. I would use warm water and wipe him up. I also have some Oatmeal bath stuff that I would use too. I found some at Walmart-generic brand. Other than that, when you are ready, lube up her bottom good. Hope she feels better soon, nothing worse than a sore bottom. I hear that Butt Paste is suppose to be really good.

My girls have never had any kind of rash that Desitin couldnt take care of. However, I work on a Pediatric Unit and usually a severe rash can be a sign of some other problem. If it doesnt clear up I would take her to your doctor--who might prescribe something. It could be fungal--its pretty common.

Use a wash rag with warm water to clean her up. Stay away from wipes or other rough things. Let her air out as much as possible.

It could be yeast. You can try an OTC fungicide like Lotrimin to kill it. If that doesn't work, call the Dr. on Monday. Try to let it get to air as much as possible. It's wetness that makes it worse.

I would try cleaning her up really well. I know that is hard. Try keeping her butt coated in A&D ointment to help heal it and to put a barrier between her skin and any other moisture. If you don't have any A&D try Vaseline until you can get the A&D. It always worked for me. My son would get the worst rashes if he ate or drank anything with citric acid in it. Thank goodness he is finally potty trained.

When that would happen i would always let them soak in the tub and then dry them really good and then apply butt paste. I would also try to give them some time with nothing on their tush.

dd used to get severe yeast infections when she wasn't mobile i would lay out a garbage bag on the floor and cover it with a towel then i would lay her there to play iwth a naked bum, also the only thing that worked for her was prescription meds, and i used tons of vaseline in between rashes, and i never used baby wipes they only made her rashes worse, instead i used baby washclothes they are softer than normal ones. and i only used those on her bum. it helped. i also would make a paste of vaseline and cornstarch and i would use that on her bum at the beginnings of a rash. it always helped. i also only used lukewarm water it seemed to feel better than warmer water on her bum.

Thanks for all the tips. It stopped bleeding, but is really red. She has had a yeast infection before, but this looks different. I will put some lotramin on next diaper change anyways, since I do agree it clears things up really fast! And maybe try some naked time and bath time tomorrow night! Thanks ladies!
