I have used bleach, vinegar, baking soda, you name it to get rid of the odor and I can't. It was also a huge pain to cut the bags when it was time to empty the pail. I am ready to throw them both out. I think I will resort to a regular lidded trash can with regualr trash bags. We take our trash out daily anyway.

I never had a problem with odor...when I emptied it, I would wipe it out with a paper towel and some spray cleaner and let it dry completely before closing it back up again. I did that every single time from the first time I used it and never had an odor problem. I've heard a lot of people say they hated theirs for that reason, but it wasn't an issue for me at all. I thought it was the best invention! My sister had the one that took regular kitchen bags, and boy did it stink! Who knows if she cleaned it inside or not but it was stinky. Everyone is different...
