I too tested positive for my 2nd pregnancy. They will give the IV for atleast 20 min-4 hrs before giving birth. Unfortunately I had the baby within five minutes of getting to the hospital and they didn't have time to do anything. So they mark 11 hours (may 12) from the minute the baby is born and do a screening test. If it comes back negative then all is fine. If it comes back positive then they administer an antibiotic.

Don't worry - it is one of the controllable factors!

My DD has had a Strep B infection and has never been pregnant. The doctors had a hard time finding it. There was a woman in my church that had a baby and she did not have Strep B. But the baby got it from somewhere and a few days after she came home, they had to go back and do spinal tap and lots more to find out it was Strep B.
