What was your favorite, most memorable, or most useful baby gift you received? Did someone make you a special blanket?

Someone made me one of those bunting bags that fit into car seats. This way way back in 1998 when they were first coming out and I could tell she put hours and hours into making it. I was so touched by her generosity. I loved that thing!

I can't decide on just one favorite...here are some that really stand out.

1) My best friend knit us a few blankets. Our favorite was a smaller sized one that was for swaddling a newborn. We use it everyday. The crocheted blankets are really nice too but bulkier and heavier in weight. 2) A pram for winter. (less bulky than a big snowsuit) 3) A knit hat in a soft fuzzy yarn. 4) A scrapbook with all the pages decorated just waiting for pictures and journaling. 4) A stroller/Infant seat travel system in a unique color. They shopped online for something different and we always get compliments. 5) Target and Babies R Us gift cards.

We did get blankets with each of our kids and I loved them! A friend of my mother gave me a beautiful blanket she made when we married, and then one for each of our kids when they were born and they're very much keepsakes.

Another gift we got that is near to my heart were birth plates from Holland from Dh's Aunt. They're SO adorable! They have a picture on the plate and in the picture there is a clock (with the time the baby was born showing), a calendar (with the birthdate circled) and the child's name is engraved around the edge. They're just wonderful.

My favorite gifts were definitely quilts. I found out I was pregnant with our first child the same weekend we buried my grandma. She was an avid quilter and made beautiful baby quilts as gifts. At my shower, I received the last baby quilt that she ever quilted - with a card signed from my grandpa (of course, I know my mom was behind this!). But, it is my favorite. Also, my mom embroidered and quilted a quilt for each of the kids. They are so adorable and were large enough for them to use through toddler-hood.

My SIL gave me a Boppy, which I posted about in the Boppy thread. That thing was such a great helper.

I received a few other things that I love... the blanket my MIL brought my husband home from the hospital in, the blanket my mom brought me home from the hospital in, a crocheted blanket my SIL made, the silver dumbell/teething toy my husband gnawed on when he was little... etc.

The baby quilts. Like AyeOhKay, My DG died right before my DS was born, She had made him a quilt and pillow and also she made extras that she gave to one of my aunts for any great grandkids that came after she passed. So DD got one also even though DG had died a year before.

A cousin knitted a baby blanket that my 9 YO still uses to this day - sleeps with it every night, in fact. The gift that keeps on giving....

Definately the baby quilts that my MIL made for all the girls. My 10yo still sleeps with it each night (and is taking it on her 5th grade trip ).
