I have had my eye on the Stokke Trip Trapp High Chair for awhile now. I know it runs a high price tag of 199.99. But I do not really like the cheap 30.00 one my SIL got for us. And this chair grows with them so you can use it for a long time. My DH says its pointless to pay that for a chair. But he did lose a bet where if I won I got to pick out one nice item for DD despite his opinion. So does anyone else have one of these chairs, are they worth it. I would love to have my DD right up at the table with us at meal time instead of that huge tray getting in the way.

Well, I have not seen that before...had to google it...here is the link for others:

TRIPP TRAPP® from STOKKE® : The chair that grows with the child™

However, I am a proud owner of the SpaceSavor. It also grows with baby, tilts when they are younger, and adjusts in height, and we just take the table (tray) off and push her up to the table when she eats with us.

I love it, and much less expensive.

But if you won a bet and you have the money and it is something you really want..go for it. Looks like even adults can use it. But I guess you have to like that "modern" style.

Good luck!

I think it's too much as well for a highchair, even if the child can "grow" with it. Often you find that items like that get tossed or not used like you think it would in the years to come.

If you want the baby right at the table with you, you can use high chairs without the tray (make sure to strap them in, of course!). We do that once they are feeding themselves, we lower the high chair and pull them right up to the table so that they can be level with us and eat from a plate on the table.

But if this is something you want and you have the money for it . . . go for it!

Sometimes it is OK to go out and buy something just because you like it. I know all too often I get trapped in the "gotta save, gotta save" mind set and I forget there are times that one needs to just get the one item that they like and maybe this high chair is that one item for you!

Probably not worth it. Most of those product claims didn't check with the children's views first :-)
We just take off the tray and pull the high chair up to the table. Actually for #2 we put him in one of those strap to the table booster seats from Wal-Mart $20 and his 2 1/2 y/o old brother still uses his booster seat. Use the money to start a 529 for the baby.
In 18 years S/He will appreciate money for college more than a fancy highchair.
Congrats on the baby!

Oh and I meant to add that the 2 1/2 yo doesn't even want to sit in the booster anyway he prefers a normal kitchen chair. You'll find that most kids resist manufacturers claims :-)

Wow! Yeah I have to agree that is too much for a high chair. You can find the ones that strap right onto a chair and the tray can come off. Much cheaper and same purpose!

we also just use a booster seat at the table. it is Fisher Price it raises up 3 levels or down as they grow. It has a tray that you can use with it and a removableone for the dishwasher and a try cover. I love it beacuse it folds up so we take it with us when going for dinner at relitives houses.

We have it! I LOVE it!! We never bought a highchair- just had the Fisher-Price booster (which I also love) . We have the Stokke Kinderzeat version of this one- it does not have as many restraints and is meant for 18 months and up. I love that it supports perfect posture and supports his feet. There were many baby items that we did not buy/need and I never bought a can of formula... so I figure this is a MINOR mealtime splurge compared with formula costs. (Gotta justify your splurges right? )

WOW! That is a lot of money for a chair. I missed it when I looked at it, is it wood?? It looks wood. How do you clean that, because it is gonna get messy. For my first born I had to get the most expensive one I could find, I think it was a Gerber. I ended up hating up. and it barely lasted two years! Impossible to clean and huge. For my second son, my mom got me what I thought was a cheapy one. Didnt look impressive at all. But, it made it thru one child completely and I am now using it for my third. I would bet money on it that it will last past him too, if I need it. It is super easy to clean, tray comes off so he will be able to sit at the table with us, AND if folds up!. It is nothing fancy, but it works great.
Spend the money on something else he will need. LOVE the idea about a college fund.
