I was wondering if anybody had a good or bad experience with them. I plan on breastfeeding as long as I can and then I usually use the Playtex bottles with disposable liners. I saw some Advent bottles really cheap at the Goodwill As Is store. I have never tried them and am thinking about getting them if they are still there. Anybody have an opinion on them? I figured I could always buy new nipples.

I used them and thought they were great... the only thing is to not over tighten them or they will leak and the air will not be able to get out. HTH.. I used mine for dd durning the day starting at around 6-7 months and then for almost all feedings at 10 months. I did now ever not use the recommended nipple for DD's age since I was still nursing also. I used stage 2 when shew as 6-7y months and stage 2-3 at the 10 month mark. I didn't want her to get made that mommy didn't flow as fast as the bottle.

I breast feed my son, and when I tried the Avent bottles they made him too gasy when he was a new born. I used the playtex liner bottles too....I think those are great at keeping the air out of a bottle more like the breast feeding.

However, I received a bunch of Avent bottles as gifts. I was able to use those when my baby was older and no longer breast feeding around 9 months old or so. I decided they were better for him when he was learning to hold the bottle on his own. He learned he had to tip the bottle back to get more liquid. When he drank from the platex liner bottles as an older baby he would not tip his head back because he just sucked the liquid untill the liner was flat.
I thought the tipping action better prepared him for sippy cups in the future.

I've tried pretty much every bottle on the market and in truth, never had a preference. Didn't like Dr. Brown - too much maintenance. I did stick w/Avent this last time because I got two manual breastpumps from their line and loved them (I have a big electric one, but didn't need to do all the set up and all, so ended up not using it on my second). I like that the mouth is wider and easier to clean, as are the nipples. Also, to get a tighter seal, you can wet the part where the rubber meets the plastic - took me awhile to learn that, because I, too, got leaks at first. They are more expensive, but I found the nipples last longer without getting gunky.

Kaylee is an AVENT baby. She wouldn't nurse the first 12 days of life, but we were able to get her to eat using the AVENT bottles. I do agree that you just have to make sure that the top is on tight. (Day care keeps saying Kaylee *magically* takes the top of on her own, but I doubt it, they probably just don't tighten it good) Easy to clean, nipples are somewhat expensive, but they go on sale at Target every once in a while!

This is the brand that we recommend to all the WIC BF moms. Many have had very good results with them.

I tried these and felt they let too much air in. We gave up after only one day. We ended up using the Playtex Drop-in's with the slow latex nipple. He easily goes between nursing and bottle.

Best bottles ever! I hated the Dr. brown bottles too pricey and too much trouble as well as gave my baby gas! Avent don't need a lot of parts and work great, never had a problem!

I liked them. Started my baby on those bottles at about 3 weeks, just one a day so she would be used to taking them.
