My lower back is killing me this is another reason why I hate being pregnant. I'm wondering though if I can use icy hot to relieve the pain at night before I go to bed?

I would think no -- but check with your doctor on that one.

I wouldn't either, but you could ask your doc or call the nurse and ask her. I always used a heating pad on low just before I went to bed. That helped a lot. I know othe moms who slept with a warm water bottle.

Call your doctor. I'm guessing you shouldn't use it. I think it has some components of aspirin in it. A teenage girl died from overdosing on sports cream / icy hot, ben gay / pain relief rubs awhile back. Scary stuff. Try a heating pad set on low or a warm bath instead.

If they say no to the icy hot, you could ask them about BioFreeze (the off-brand is freeze it in CVS). My chiropractor gave this to me for my wrists when I was having issues with them post-partum, but I THINK she said she gives it to her pregnant patients.

Agreed - call the doc, that's what they are there for. Some docs are more lenient on things, some will tell you no to most things. Just trust whatever your doc says.

I've been using menthol type stuff on my legs for pain/swelling (I already have a lot of joint damage/swelling before pg!) and my doc had no problem with me using it (I use that Absorbine Jr liquid stuff). Of course, mine also has no problem with me sleeping with an electric blanket, provided I'm not a moron and attempt to sleep with it on high and dehydrate myself (I don't - generally sleep with it on 1-3, DH likes to roast his side of the bed though!)

Call em!

See what your Dr says, but do NOT use heating pad and icy hot together! When I was younger, I had used some stuff- can't remember what it's called -think it came in a brown bottle with some kind of wand thing to apply it, anyway....then slept on my back on a waterbed (of course they are heated!) Ended up with burns on my back!!! Oh! I think the stuff was called Heet....maybe.... Just a heads up on that...

My doctor lets me use Vicks Vaporub, it's not nearly so good, but it's better than nothing!! You might ask about that one,if they don't give you any suggestions.
