ok so my dd had her shots at her 1 year check up she had a minor reaction to the hepitius shot low fever and a little redness at the injection sight nothing major then her chicken pox sight a week afterwards got red and swollen(she had them on sept 27th) so dr told me to just keep and eye on it and it can last up to 26 days. so yesterday dd wakes up with a rash on her torso and head. called dr and its most likely the chicken pox ugg this can happen and if the rash is not subsiding by monday evening call in so he can come in first thng tues. the rash should not last more than 4 days. well if you could see her you could tell there is no way this is gonna be gone by tuesday.(the only part of her body that clear are her legs).. nice dr even said we may have to reconsider some vaccinations for her since she had two reactions and did not with any of the others. so wish us luck so far she is only itching her head and nose now and then.

I'm sorry she is having a rough time of it. On the positive note I don't think she would need the 2nd chicken pox vaccine that they are now recommending kids have unless they actually get the chicken pox.

My son got chicken pox from the vaccine at six! It went away in about a day or two so it was not a full blown case. It really was not as bad as I had feared. I hope her case is just as light.

I got the chic pox vaccine for my DD as well.
Now looking back , I would never have allowed my ped to talk me into it.
My cousins DD who is 5, now gets the shingles because she had the vaccine. Shingles are painful and you keep getting them throughout your life once you have them. They say this is one of the side effects of the varicella vaccine because shingles are the same disease, just different strain they can get through that vaccination.

I think vaccinations are great and they have done wonderful things to rid the world of deadly diseases, but I also think they give to many at one appointment.

If your little one is sensitive to vaccinations, I would really reconsider the MMR shot until she is older and only let them give 1-2 shots per appointment.

So sorry you went through this!
