While we were eating dinner one night we just started spitting out names and seeing which ones we both liked, for a girl we came up with Isabelle for a girl and Kevin for a boy. No matter what the gender is, the baby will get my maiden name as a middle name (which should be interesting, my maiden name is VERY Irish and our last name now is VERY Italian hehe) We just went with what we liked!

With DS, he was names after a friend of my father who's name I thought was awesome. (Cody Shane)

With DD, she was named after Adrian Paul from Highlander. Her name is Adrienne Nicole. Had she been a boy She would have been Adrian Scott.

Okay, this is going to be a long one:

DD #1: Her name is Emily Rebecca. Dh and I went through a college graduation program and picked out the names we likes best. We wanted something that was not common. We had never met anyone named Emily. Unfortunately, everyone had the same idea about that time

DS #2: We wanted a German name to go with our last name, but we did not want it to be too unusual. So we looked through the books and came up with Kurt Johannes.

DD #3: Dh had been traveling in Montana shortly before she was conceived and he loved it. He wanted to name her Montana, but I vetoed that and came up with Tana instead. Her middle name is a mountain pass in Montana. Tana Marias.

DS #4: DH is a huge Railroad buff. Avery, ID is a big RR town and Camden junction is a big RR junction. So we have Avery Camden.

DS #5: I worked with a guy named Merrick in college and always thought it was a really cool name. Stevens pass is a mountain pass in Montana. So #5 is Merrick Stevens.

DS #6: We wanted to go German once again, and dh wanted the initials to be DWP (another railroad thing). We looked through the books and came up with Dustin Warner Pepin.

DS #7: This is our science fiction baby. Luke is after Luke Skywalker in Starwars. Aragorn is from the Lord of the Rings. #7 is Luke Aragorn.

I wanted to incorporate my late fathers middle name in my son's name so we used DH's middle name as his first name and my dads middle name (I did alter the spelling a bit) and came up with Jordan Lloyd.

with our daughter I wanted something unique. I was looking through a website with japanese names and saw Kaida. means little dragon. I've been told its pronounced Kah eeeda but was say Kay duh. its also a mix if Dh's mom's middle name Kay and my grandma's middle name Ada. and we gave Kaida my middle name..Faye.

We argued and argued (to the point of my tears) over my first son's name. I wanted something "normal" and my husband wanted to make a joke of the name. Our last name is Space, so he suggested Tray Dean Space and Lausten Auder Space. So we went with his favorite band, Led Zeppelin, and named our sons after Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. They have "normal" names, yet they will more than likely be the only Bob and Jamie in their class at school.

We always say if we win the lottery we will adopt a little girl...I would name her Jonni Renee after the other two members of Led Zeppelin (John) and my mother's middle name. Not quite as normal as the boys' names, but I think it's cute.

( Sophia Darlene ) When we discussed names, we wanted name that were strong for a boy and elegant for a girl. I am a stong beleiver that your name has everything to do with your personality!

Shortly after dh and I were married we were watching Shallow Hal which is actually quite a lame show imo but there is a little girl on there named Cadence. Dh and I looked at eachother and said, "that's a pretty name". Well, when I got pregnant with dd we still remembered it!
As far as Isaac goes...we just like that name.

Chicky Hip -- We have a boy Jamie too!

Jamie is named for James, his great-grandfather (who I discovered in my genealogy was named after HIS grandfather! Cool, huh?). His middle name is shared by his grandfather and his father. Their was a great-uncle who's name was passed down for the middle names. Lots of history!

Just a sidenote about family being named after relatives... it is a tradition in my DF's family that the 1st born son have the father's first name as a middle and his middle name as his first (ex. Franklin John then John Franklin etc... ) that has been traced back to the 14th century. My DF finally had a son 17 years ago and named him Sean Franklin and screwed the whole system up (He should have been a Franklin Sean.) Although Sean is (Irish?) for John and his middle name is Franklin alot of our family was VERY upset for changing teh tradition.
