Did you scour the name books? Does baby have a namsake? I"m just curious how many pick names.

With DS#1, I wanted a traditional Biblical name. DH came up with Daniel, and I picked out his middle name (a form of DH's first name which also happens to be my younger brother's middle name).

With DS#2, we wanted him to have a Biblical name and have my initials. So, we picked Andrew (and his second name is after a significant astronaut since we enjoy the space program so much).

DS#3 is named after another of my favorite Biblical figures, Stephen. His middle name is also my older brother's middle name.

DH couldn't agree on a Biblical first name for DD, but he really liked Emily. Her middle name is a Biblical name that also happens to be my great grandmothers middle name.

How did you pick?

Well, with my ds (my first). I wanted an Irish name since being a boy his last name wouldn't change. I wanted something not too common, and I didn't want to name him after anyone. I wanted him to be his own.
With my dd. I wanted something pretty and feminine, again not common and something that if reading her name before you met her would fit any career choice she chooses. A name that would fit a girl and a women.

When we found out we were having a baby girl, the hubster and I sat down with three different baby name books and made lists of names we liked. We ended up with Katarina, Charlotte, and Isabella. We ended up going with Katarina, because we just fell in love with the name. We nicknamed her Kat, but when she turned 2 she nicknamed herself Nina. "Whatever Nina wants, Nina gets." Ha. Her middle name is Bailey, which is my MIL's maiden name.

Now I'm due to have our son any day now. We did the list thing again and I finally convinced my husband that Sebastian was what we should name him. Hubster was against it at first, because he thought I wanted to name our lil guy after one of my favourite motocross riders, Sebastien Tortelli. Then he didn't like any of the nicknames associated with name. (Seb, and Bastian.) I told him that we could nickname Sebastian "Ian" which was a completely seperate name on our list. He agreed with that, so now we're looking forward to Sebastian Clark. Clark was the name of one of my uncles who passed away from Lupus when I was a kiddo.

I went through the baby name book, but I didn't read it front to back. I wanted something original that nobody else would probably be naming their baby. I was 1 of 3 Amber's all through elementary school and I hated having to put my last initial behind my name everytime I turned something in or was called on I didn't want to be "Amber V." I just wanted to be "Amber" like all the other kids. So we decided on Hope and Caitlyn. We asked everybody what they thought....almost everybody liked Caitlyn, so we figured it was more popular and we would name her Hope Caitlyn.

Our 1 ds has 1st and middle names after both of his grandfathers.
The next 3 first names all start with the letter J (keeping up with the J theme)
All of their middle names are family related.

My mom picked my DD#1 name and it was a big joke for the longest time see she chose Gabrielle Alexis Bonini. Well we all know that her first name was going to be shortened and I thought we cant name her that cause thats her initials well sure enough when she came out thats what she looked like so yes my DD's name is Gabrielle and we call her Gab or Gabby. My DD#2 was a name I had chosen a long time ago and thought well forget what everyone says I am naming this one no matter what and I went with Savannah Skye. I loved the name Skye from when I was a kid and I got it in there despite everyone saying it sounds like a p*rn star name. Now my DS his name was compiled of letters from all of out names and his name is Kyle and my hubby had chosen Hayden when we were first pregnant with him and as I was on my way to the hospital to have him he still didnt have a middle name so I said well its either Andrew or Hayden and no one would choose so I chose Hayden. So needless to say my kids have weird names that are not to popular but their nicknames are what they are called by and no one has those so I dont worry lol. I have my Gabby my CoCo and my KyBo lol and they use those names too.

We each came up with lists and gave our opinions.
1. Has to go nice with your last name. Don't want a child to end up being Teddy Bear.
2. Can't be a name where schoolmates will come up with a mean nickname. Once we got into middle school B.J. starting going by Brice.
3. Can't be a name of someone you can't stand or a spouse's ex. I can't stand the name Emily because I knew one in high school that was the b word.

Dh like the name Starlin Monet. For me it sounded like a stripper or **** star name so we compromised. Our oldest's middle name is Monet.

I had picked both a girls and a boy's name when I was a child, and always planned to call my kids that. But then after I got pregnant was joking to DH that instead of Nicholas Alexander Patterson (Patterson being middle name passed along on his side) that since he was so into Conan te Barbarian, maybe it should be Conan Alexander... and he got so excited I couldn't break his heart. So we are going to have a Conan Alexander Patterson. But DH gave up all future naming rights, lol!!

we picked dd first name from a book. We picked 4-5 names that we really liked and then waited till we saw her to decde. Her middle names are after out mothers middle names. hence Hailey Isabel Kay ______. and my boys name I have picked out is after my fathers middle name Ethan Andrew. but that may change if we do have a boy some day. Since my FIL is very ill so if we have a little boy he may just be named after mu FIL
