Wow what a changed since we had Emily and its not even two weeks yet. For the past two days I've been feeling miserable and depress. I can't hardly describe my feelings other than when she cries I can't stand it. Its annoying and I had to go outside and sit in the stairwell just to take a break. I love my daughter to death but lately I just want to shake the poor little thing everytime she cries. I can't help feeling this way. I never experienced this with DS about two years ago. I felt so distance to her now and I felt like I'm a bad mom. I still attend to her needs. Changing her, feeding her, comforting her but what's bad I have to put headphones on when she starts crying because I just can't listen to it. How many of you guys feel like this at home with your newborn? am I just imagining all this?

You need to talk to your doctor right away. This sounds like signs of PPD and I say nip it in the bud quickly. Get it taken care of and don't sit on it thinking it will pass. You need to do this for yourself and your baby!!!!

I agree go to see your doctor right away!!! Call right now if you haven't already.

Then, don't be so hard on yoursef, you are aware that there is a problem and that is good...My DD is 4 months old and about a month ago I felt I was going through some depression, turns out I my thyroid is out of line...go to your doctor and make them listen to you. Ask specifically adout PPD and about having your thyroid checked, it is a simple blood test and the symptoms of hypothyroidism are often mistaken for PPD. Good luck, and remember you are not alone, many of us understand how you feel.
I hope you feel better soon.

Yes call your doctor and tell your doctor exactly what you typed here. Get it fixed, you don't have to feel this way. I'm sorry it's rough right now. Don't feel guilty about anything, pregnancy is very rough on the body and mind. It jumbles everything up. Hugs and luck. Keep us updated, I'll be thinking of you!

Listen to the ladies above.

I will say that when we brought Logan home this summer, and all he seemed to do was cry the first couple of weeks, I did wonder a couple of times, "Why did we do this again?" I felt awful even thinking that at the time but a lot was also going on. He cried a lot at first. I was recovering from my c-section. And I was worried about money. Now that he is 5 months old, almost, and has completely intergrated himself in the family, he hardly cries, I have re-covered (minus this hair loss), and our finances are improving -- I guess, where I'm going with this, is It Does Get Better!

Take some time to yourself, even if it is just a few minutes out in the hallway. Put the baby in her crib and take a shower - with the water going you usually can't hear her cry and you know she's in a safe place while you get just a few minutes to relax. And remember, going from one to two kids, is a big jump! I know I did it myself this summer.

And discuss this with your doctor. That is what they are there for.

I totally agree. PPD is nothing to mess around with. Call your doctor tomorrow, please.

Please do not be hard on yourself. I had similar issues. It is obviously more difficult taking care of an older sibling and an infant. It seemed like the hormones were so much worse the second time. I went to the doctor and he gave me a prescription but I did not fill it. I spent lots of days crying after they went to bed but I made it. I did not know what that medication would do to my body and I didn't want to chance taking it. You have to do what is right for you. If you are desperate then I would get some help.

Try to get out as much as you can, even if you just run an errand to get a little air.

Try to get a nap and not worry about the housework.

My youngest cried A LOT more than the first. I ended up keeping her in the vibrating bouncer a lot. She needed movement. I walked up and down the halls with her and it did not help. I put her bouncer in her crib so I knew she'd be up off the floor and not fall out. I then bought a crib vibrator that attached to her bassinet or whatever I wanted to put it on. This was a lifesaver.

It will get better!!

I will add that I definitely didn't mean to imply that you should suck it up. I just wanted to offer some suggestions to help you get through your day.

No, you are not imagining it. PPD is a very real condition. Please seek help. If you need support from another mom who went through it, please PM me. I had it severely with both children. You could be going through just the blues at a much more severe level, but your doctor needs to diagnose you and may recommend medication. No matter what the diagnosis, you WILL not stay that way. It will get better!
