Maybe he is concerned if there is a problem/ some sort of bad news discovered, and having the kids right there will be harder? That's the only reason I can think of.

My older kids loved going to the ultrasounds for their younger siblings! I think it was a wonderful experience for us all. If you take them, have the tech give you extra "photos" of the baby for the older ones to show off!

My daughter was there - she was 3 at the time. She was too young to really understand but your ages -- especially the 7 year old, I think it would be cool Truthfully we never gave it much thought either way, we just took her. And the tech was wonderful because she gave our daughter her own ultrasound picture to keep.

I suppose if there had been problems -- traditionally I think everyone tends to think of the ultrasound as a chance to find out if you're having a boy or a girl when in reality it is to see if the baby is physically healthy. I guess we would have dealt.

Why doesn't your husband want them there?

My son went with me to almost every appointment, he was about 2.5 during the u/s and he loved it. He would say "look, baby!"

My son was 4 and 5, and it was cool, because it helped him realize there really was a moving baby in there. When they saw something wrong, they actually had a nurse take him out and show him around while they discussed it. I had him munching on a snack so he wouldn't get in the way while the doctors were talking.

I think they would think it was amazing to see their baby sister or brother on there! Just as amazing as it will be for you!! Try to convince him to let them go...
