Dh and I have been looking for cribs, it just so happens that almost the exact crib I have been wanting from babies R us is listed on craigs list as BRAND NEW for only 150 and in the store it is 275 they say it was purchased at babies r us..... I am going to try to talk them down, and I e-mailed them questions, but I am worried that something is wrong with the crib. Why would someone buy it and then not use it???

Should I be worried?
Would you buy a crib through craigslist?

There a few reasons that come to mind why they might not have used it:

They might have lost the baby are just looking to get rid of the furniture.

OR maybe one of newbie grandparents bought them a nicer set and they are looking to use that instead.

I've bought several things off of craigslist and always had good luck. I wish you luck in your search for a crib!

As long as you have checked to ensure it hasn't been recalled, and ensure it's clean, and all the parts, including the screws are there, then yeah. I recently actually donated my $400 crib that was in basically unused condition. Why? DS used it very little, and ended up sleeping w/us. We never even set it up for DD, with her strong personality. So we had a beautiful, new crib we donated.

There was a post I put on here from Craigs list where the parents said that - new, set up, but their daughter refused to sleep there so they were selling it. It's hard to return them after you've been trying to get them to use it for 3 months, and giving up after 6 months.

I would. Just check it over real good and make sure that all the parts are there. Like desertmom said...make sure it's not recalled too.

We bought a used crib. The owners said the baby slept with them. It looked new. I would also suggest checking for a recall.

Besides checking for recalls and Everything - I wouldn't Hesitate to buy a crib anywhere if I Could Save money!!

I always say - You don't know if the crib you buy as New from the store was actually used or not. ! People use stuff and return it all the time !

I buy stuff anywhere - and Clean everything good , new or used!!

Also your baby might not like a crib... so You'll be glad you didn't spend alot if it doesen't

I say go for it. As long as it's got all the parts and hasn't been recalled, it sounds like a great deal!
