Ok so my mom and I are trying to figure out who is more right on this. Figured I would see what everyone else does. My son is a little over 3mo old and I am in illinois with winters in the 30's or below....when putting a long sleeve shirt that is a onsie on him, should i put another short sleeve undershirt onsie under that? He is in the warm house usually. Just wondering what everyone else does. Thanks for your input

Normally I don't do it. I just let DD who is a month a half have a short sleeve onsies then a long gown. We have this fleece cover that covered the whole carseat so she is warm and toasty inside. That's when we have to go out. But in the house during the day I let her wear a short sleeve onsies and some socks. I covered her with a blanket though because our house is warm too and I don't want her getting too cold or hot. During the night I change her to a gown but without the onsies underneath. I just covered her with a blanket.

I always put a short sleeved onsie on my kids in the winter. I guess it depends on how cold it is in the house and whether you are going out in the cold or not.

I usually don't like to double up on the snaps so in this case, I wouldn't. If it were a regular shirt, I would put a onesie under it.

I live in central IN and both my kids wore onesies under their normal shirts, even if the shirt-shirt snapped like a onesie.

I love onesies !

My son who is 3 still wears them at night under his Blanket sleeper.

My mom Swears By onesies- this is where I Learned from.

Ecspecially under 6 months - She better Never see a Baby withough a onesie!! No matter what type of shirt they have on

I always had a onesie underneath, sometimes a long sleeved onesie. I don't normally do double snaps becasue I would get annoyed when changing his diaper. He wore a lot of feet pj's the first couple months and then after he was bigger I would layer with just a normal shirt and pants etc. Ds is a small guy so I had to provide the insulation!
I'm a big believer in layers instead of overheating your house...constant central heating moves lots of dust, etc around. Plus, kids need fresh air!

I live in Northern Idaho and always use them during the winter. Now if I could just keep socks on my baby he'd be set!

We bought a little pair of the soft soled target shoes (robeez knockoffs) for ds. I don't remember the sizing, but he was a little guy when he started wearing them, about 3 mos old (and he has small feet, 19 mo old and still wearing size 4!). They kept his socks on and feet warm and are still in pristine condition for #2 since he never crawled or anything in them.

I live in Wyoming and I have done this with all of my kids. You have to remember that those little ones don't regulate their body temp. like we do when they are so young. Just because the house feels warm to you, does not mean that it feels the same temp. to your baby!!!

So, I have always used onesies during the winter!
