Emily has never had her hair cut (except for my evening out the ends). Just recently she has a rat's nest in her hair when she wakes up. It's always at the back of her head where she lays on her pillow.

Has anyone had any success with any particular shampoo/conditioner for babies/toddlers to help with this problem? I've always used a baby shampoo (Johnsons or generic), but I think it may be time for something with a conditioner.

I use the Johnson and Johnson Hair Detangler. We always give baths at night and the girls wake up with "rats nests" too. It seems to help a lot. Brooklyn has never had her hair cut and she is almost 4! Except of course the ends. But her hair is almost down to her butt and it can get to be bad.

I used Johnson's extra conditioning shampoo on my daughter's hair for awhile. Then I used a wide-toothed comb to work out tangles.

We use the Johnson buddies line a lot. We use conditioner, and then after rinsing that out, we put spray on conditioner on her hair. It then gets combed w/ a wide tooth comb before and after blow drying. Her hair is halfway down her back (! - not my genes) with very few tangles the next day, despite the ringlets she gets (again, not from me!).

This may seem strange...but try changing to a satin/silky pillowcase.

dd had this problem, her hair is at her butt... and it helps!
