On Saturday night, DS (9 mos.) figured out that he can stand up in his crib. And do laps. And play.

Now I can't get him to go to sleep! The other night I let him scream for 25 minutes before I went up and nursed him again to calm him down (he went right to sleep after that). Last night after some crying, he was quiet for probably 15 minutes, so I went upstairs to make sure he was covered... when I peeked into his room from the top of the stairs, he was sitting at the end of his crib looking at me through very sleepy eyes--I think he had been sleeping sitting up!

Right now it's nap time, and I put him down about 10 or 15 minutes ago. I can still hear him on the monitor, playing and then fussing, playing and then fussing. He is very tired. I hope he finally falls asleep.

I also took him in for his 9-month well-baby visit this morning, and the doctor basically said I shouldn't nurse him in the middle of the night any more. I'll certainly be glad when he doesn't wake up, but I'm not really looking forward to the interim when he cries and keeps us awake at 2am!

Hey! My dd went through that, she'd wake up at 3 am and play...it was right around the time she was really mobile, trying to walk and get around. It lasted about 2 weeks. they are so funny

About the nursing at night.... I nursed dd right before I went to bed around 10pm, even if she was asleep, I took her out and topped her up, that lasted about 3 wks or so and then she did not even need that feeding. he is probably at a good age to start that, not too old to really make a big fuss about the night feedings!

Hope you had a great Christmas!
