I have a box of cream of wheat in my pantry, and I read on the side of the box that it is also good as infant cereal. Has anyone tried this w/their little ones? Did you just use water to cook it or real milk?

I gave that to my Oldest when she was about 6 months .

She had been on Rice cereal and Other Baby Foods - I just gave this as a Change of Pace-

I love Cream of wheat!! She did too.

I think I prepared it like I Would Prepare her rice Cereal , with A litte formula and Water.

Yep we used it. DS loved it - still does! (He eats it almost every morning for breakfast lately) We used real milk (2%). DS started on solids at 5 months, but we didn't give him this until he was more like 6 months old - by then the doctor had okayed us to give him milk products. He was also eating yogurt. They say to wait until the baby is a year old to introduce milk, but DS quit nursing on his own so we had to give him food and he wanted the good stuff. LOL I make my cream of wheat with milk, add a little pat of butter and a shake of salt. Once it's cooked, I add in a small amount of sugar. Mmm Yummy!

Well my son is 7 months now and has been on rice cereal, but I'm going to try this since he's almost out and I'm trying to do good on the spending freeze!

One of the benefits of the baby cereals is that they have extra iron. So check to see how much Cream of Wheat has. Until Age 2, when the body starts becoming more efficient, they need the iron in the cereal (according to my ped.) or other iron sources.
