How did you do it if you already had kids? Did you stick to it and hire help or have family that could help out? Or were you like my old boss who would still go get the kids (she stepped in a hole at her dd's school and broke her ankle....she had to explain to her dr how she broke her ankle while she was supposed to be on bedrest).

I was on bed rest with My DS and I had a toddler DD at that time. Luckily she was an amazing little girl and watched tv and really just hung out with me on the couch and in bed all day. We did lots of resting (Puzzles, books etc) and I am now with a 4 yo and a 18 mo old and having issues and am supposed to be "taking it easy" now. So, I am trying. But with my DS who is 18 mo its nearly impossible. We have no family here in GA. And, DH works a lot... We dont have money to hire anyone , so its just me.

Several times. With my 5th child, I was on bed rest for just a week when he was born at 35 weeks. I had a 5yr old, 12 yr old and not quite 1 yr old at the time. My 2 youngest continued to go to daycare when I went on bedrest.

With my 6th child, I was put in the hospital at 33 weeks with pre term labor. They had trouble stopping in and I stayed there for a week. Then I spent 2 weeks at home in bed with a terbutaline pump in my leg, a visiting nurse and home contraction monitor. My other kids were 13, 6, 27 months and 15 months. My mil came and stayed with us during that time.

With my 7th child, I was on bed rest for 4 months. It was very hard since I was a SAHM at that time. We also lived in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. My dh drove 1& 1/2 hours each way to work and my oldest (17) drove an hour to school. My other kids were 8, 5, 4, & 3. My church helped with transporting my 4 & 5 yr olds to and from preschool, they also brought us alot of meals. We had an awesome daycare provider who watched the boys occassionally for me before. All 3 of them stared going full time from 6am to 5:30pm. Alot of people in the town helped with transporting my 8 yr old to activities. My dh worked shorter hours and really, really stepped up. I was on total and complete bedrest, only leaving the house once a week to go to the dr (1/2 hour away). Luckily we got a big tax refund that paid for daycare for us and my kids loved it so much that I got a job after the baby was born so that they could keep going to daycare! (but not for as many hours!)

It was very hard, but we managed to do what had to be done in order to have my healthy boys!!

Thankfully I was on bedrest with baby #1. I didn't have any other littles to care for at the time.

I wish you had some friends nearby!

I was on bed rest for 4 months with DS but he was my first so I didn't have the other child factor.

DS is almost 1 and DH and I have started talking about TTC#2 - I'm a SAHM now and the big thing on my mind is how I will manage bed rest with a toddler. I know there is the possibility I won't be put on bed rest again, but I know there is a better chance I will. We were going to TTC when DS was 18months but due to the possibility of facing complications again during pregnancy, I think I'm going to push TTCing back a bit.

We have family near by and I'm sure they would help out, but I know they wouldn't be able to be here all day and I'd feel bad asking them to be.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!
