Several times. With my 5th child, I was on bed rest for just a week when he was born at 35 weeks. I had a 5yr old, 12 yr old and not quite 1 yr old at the time. My 2 youngest continued to go to daycare when I went on bedrest.
With my 6th child, I was put in the hospital at 33 weeks with pre term labor. They had trouble stopping in and I stayed there for a week. Then I spent 2 weeks at home in bed with a terbutaline pump in my leg, a visiting nurse and home contraction monitor. My other kids were 13, 6, 27 months and 15 months. My mil came and stayed with us during that time.
With my 7th child, I was on bed rest for 4 months. It was very hard since I was a SAHM at that time. We also lived in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. My dh drove 1& 1/2 hours each way to work and my oldest (17) drove an hour to school. My other kids were 8, 5, 4, & 3. My church helped with transporting my 4 & 5 yr olds to and from preschool, they also brought us alot of meals. We had an awesome daycare provider who watched the boys occassionally for me before. All 3 of them stared going full time from 6am to 5:30pm. Alot of people in the town helped with transporting my 8 yr old to activities. My dh worked shorter hours and really, really stepped up. I was on total and complete bedrest, only leaving the house once a week to go to the dr (1/2 hour away). Luckily we got a big tax refund that paid for daycare for us and my kids loved it so much that I got a job after the baby was born so that they could keep going to daycare! (but not for as many hours!)
It was very hard, but we managed to do what had to be done in order to have my healthy boys!!
