Don't do castor oil!! My dd tried this and all she did was get diareaha on top of everything else!!!

I'm sure it is an old wives tale, but my dh and I were going out to dinner for our anniversary when I was 34.3 weeks pregnant and a coworker laughed and said don't eat steak, you'll go into labor! Well, I had filet and the next day I was in preterm labor! Luckily he held off 10 more days and introduced himself at 36 weeks at a whopping 5' 12"! I was in so much discomfort those 10 days that I spent a lot of time in the tub! It did help a great deal to get the pressure off. Good luck and keep your focus on knowing that you are going to have a beautilful baby soon!

With my sixth child, I did do the castor oil and it worked. I do think that is because the baby was ready. I tried it with the next child to no avail.

sex is the best way I think... but if that kids not ready NOTHING will work... I know, my last DD was over due and we tried everything. finally we were induced and had a 9 lb baby.

Castor Oil can also ause the baby to have a bm inutero... causing asperation, very very very bad!

I was dilated to a 6 for a month... he was ready and at 90%.... but they induced me @ 2 and a half weeks overdue and come to find out nothing was progressing because he was stuck. Emergency csection was all they could do... the 7lbs and 13 ozs they predicted was shot as he was over 2 lbs larger.

Sex and nipple stimulation work. If you have a breast pump, try that 4-5 times a day for 10 minutes. I was stuck in latent labor like you for 2 weeks (contractions every 15-20 min) and let me tell you it's a pain. I had sex 2 times a day for 4 days, coupled with nipple stimulation. I started on a Monday, and on Thursday at about 2 in the afternoon, I was suddenly starving (like I had not eaten in days), so I went thru the drive thru and got a huge burger, fries and a coke. I got home and scarffed it down in no time flat, and as soon as I was done, I said uhoh! The contractions started coming right away! I said great, I just did what your not supposed to do (eat a huge meal)

Right away they were every 5-7 min. I had the urge to walk and I walked for hours (I called the DR and my contractions weren't hard enough to go to the hospital yet) I walked most of the night, I tried to sleep and couldn't. I went to the hospital at about 5 Friday morning ( I was scheduled for and augementation anyway) with my contractions about 5 min apart and unable to talk thru them.

What didn't work on one pregnancy, might work on this one. You might want to consider the castor oil thing again. Just like all children are different, all pregnancies are different. It's sure worth trying. I hope all goes well, lots of prayers your way!!!!! Angela

I am being induced in the morning! 8 AM to be exact! (ugh, way early for me, but worth it!!!) My doc (this one, anyhow) is SOOOOO sweet, and is concerned about the baby AND me, and dd is at a negative 1 station.
Thank you all SO VERY MUCH for your help and thoughts and prayers!

I am glad you had adoc that listened to you! I got stuck with a quack here at the base who wouldnt induce me cause I was not past 4cm! I was 3.5! I was having contractings for 5 days, the checked me and her arm was over her head. She was pushing herself OUT of the birth canal.
