I have never done it at age 1. My first two kids were both atleast 2 years old. When did you do it, and how?

I always took my kiddos off before they were 1 yr. They were both off their bottles at 10 months, I just took the bottles away, and didn't look back. I used those Nuby sippy cups (soft spout) to start with, they always took to them well.

I let DD start exploring a sippy cup (first empty and then with liquid in it) around 7.5/8 months old. By the time she was 9 months old, I took the bottles away completely. DD took well to sippy cups and we never had a problem.

I introduced sippy cups around 7/8 months, but I didn't completely take the bottles away when she turned 1; I narrowed it down to 2 bottles. She went to 1 bottle at 15 months (just did the nighttime bottle) and then completely took her off at 18 months.

I took my baby girl off the bottle at 18 months old.At a year old she went from having all her bottles to just having one at bed time. then at 18 months someone came into our house and took all the bottles away so there went any left. lol!! If ya know what I mean. It took about 3 nights of crying for to finally give it up. it really wasnt tht hard. Good luck to you.

My son was breast and bottle fed, we introduced the cup at 5 mos and he was off the bottle at 9 months. My daughter was only breast feed, never had a bottle (she was one of those wonderful children that would nurse exactly every 4 hours from birth and I was actually able to leave her, see a movie, have a life and return in time for the next feeding - God bless her!) She was introduced the cup at 5 months as well and weaned from me at 14 mos.

My oldest easily gave up her bottle at about 11 1/2 months. She loved her sippy cup. I transitioned her slowly taking 1 bottle away at a time from about 10 months.

I have a 27 month old who is very attached to her bottle. She still gets it for bedtime. I slowly took away her bottles also but I didn't start until she was 18 months. She had a sensitive gag reflex so I gave her formula for a bit longer for nutrition. I haven't been strong enough to take it away. I should probably leave for a few nights during bedtime and let my husband do it.

By the time my son was a year old he was only having a bottle before nap and bedtime. Then, he droped the night time bottle (with milk) at around 18 months. After that I started giving him water in it until he was about 2. IMO as long as there is only water in it and your not putting them to bed with it, it is ok once or twice a day.

Riley kind of decided to take himself off the bottle. I started giving him a sippy cup to play with around 6 months and by 11 months he wouldn't take a bottle anymore. It was a blessing because I don't think that I would have been able to take it away from him.
