There were only a couple of things that were really important to me, and they weren't huge, but I made them known to the dr and nurses. Mainly, I didn't want an episiotomy. They just don't help like they thought they would, but so many drs keep doing them automatically anyway! I didn't want one, and it's a good thing I didn't have one, b/c I tore so badly anyway that (according to the nurses) if I had had one, I probably would have had a 4th degree tear. As it was, I had 4 3rd degree tears. Ouch!
DH and I discussed the important stuff beforehand, what we would prefer to happen in certain scenarios, but other than that, resigned ourselves to the care of American medicine. I think that as long as you are on the same page about the big stuff w/your SO, that's probably all the birth plan you need. Seeing as how nothing's certain in the delivery room till it's all over.
