I made up a detailed birth plan for my first. Let's just say it went out the window!! I think it is a wonderful idea but I didn't use mine either time. I had complications and ended up with a c-section. How about you?

I remember in our birthing class they told us to make one, but we didn't. I think it's good to make sure you think of all possibilities and what you might do in that situation, ya know? Because even if I had made one, it went WAAAAAAAAAY different than I ever thought it would go. Maybe make sure everyone knows who is to make decisions if you can't, etc.

With my daughter I had a very detailed birth plan and we followed it more or less. With my son ... I just didn't get it done. Which I guess that was OK as I ended up having a c-section. I had it so much more together with my daughter. But my son turned out OK!

I didn't with either of my kids, but I had an idea what I would need to do. I just figured that there were so many unknowns that it didn't pay to make one and then just throw it out the window. Both turned out pretty well.

I didn't. I had so many weird problems with the pregnancy (appendicitis at 6months anyone?) that all I wanted was for both of us to make it out alive. That's actually what I told the nurse when she asked what my plans and goals for the labor and delivery were - "I want to be alive and I want the baby to be alive." I wasn't even aiming as high as healthy. I had done a lot of reading, so I had a good idea of what could and would happen, but I pretty much said "yes" to everything the doctor or nurse suggested. To me a birth plan = higher expectations, and higher expectations = possible disappointment. As it was, I ended up being very happy with how everything went - we both were alive, so my goal was achieved. Everything else was icing!

With my twins (almost 12 years ago), I didn't really plan on anything. I was a higher risk pregnancy due to previous miscarriages and having a multiple pregnancy. In fact, I really didn't "allow" myself to get to excited (wouldn't buy things for them, etc.) about being pregnant with them until after they were born. Our third daughter we just planned on going to the hospital. Both times the births went well.

I had a birth plan with all 4, but only 2 of them ended up going the way I would have liked. I was induced with my oldest because of PIH so my intervention free birth went out the window. #2 was an accidental intervention free birth as the dr. on call told me I wasn't in labor until I went from 2-10 in 15 minutes and gave birth right after I was told I was going home . #3 went like I planned, no interventions with great support. #4 my water broke at 32 weeks so any plan went out the window at that point. When I finally had dd 4 weeks later I was so happy to have a healthy baby and finally get out of the hospital that I didn't care.

The only plan I had with any of mine was to come home with a healthy baby. It went pretty well!

I thought about doing one with my first, I just never got around to it, I knew in my head what I wanted tho, but as soon as I went into labor it all went out the window lol, I didn't bother with my 2nd to even think of one, I figured whatever happened would happen.

I had one and it went WAY out the window. For dd #1 I was planning a home birth, and after 40 hours of labor with out med, but pitocin.... c section lol For dd #2 I had very low expectations, but just wanted a healthy baby!
