We bought our at Target. It is an ultrasonic humidifier. They have a few different characters. We have Hello Kitty. It has worked wonderfully and no messy filters.

Do you want a cool mist or a warm mist humidifer?

We have a warm mist (dd room is cold in the winter). I think it is also a ultrasonic humidifier, but ours is just plain white with a purple or blue water tub thingy. Mine has no filters either. I did have a cool mist humidifier (under doctor reccomendations), but it had filters YUCK!! Anyways.....we went with the warm mist like I said before. HTH.

If you're in the market for a humidifier for the house, we have recently purchased the Kenmore Quiet Comfort Whole House Humidifier (10 gallon) from Sears. Apparently the filters are easy to find, it's very quiet, and seems to work really well. We were both fighting really dry skin and sinus problems, and this has helped out a lot. It sounds like you're going to get a smaller one, but if you opt for the larger one for your whole house, I'd recommend that one.

I tried two and ended up with a Vicks on that said it was "pediatric". I'm not sure what they meant by that, but I'll tell you this - it is SO easy to fill. They must have known I'd be doing that with a baby in the other hand. There is a funnel for me to just pour the water in. Love it. Pretty easy to clean too, I just stick the tube in a cup of vinegar for a bit, then wipe it off.

DS's pede. recommended a cool mist vapoizer. We decided on the Vick's brand - easy to fill and easy to replace filters.
